Western Mass Weather for September 3, 3018

(6:05pm Mon) A QUICK NOTE ON THE TROPICS…HEAT ADVISORY POSTED FOR TOMORROW FOR N.CT, CMASS, AND WMASS (EXCEPT FOR BERKSHIRES/W. HILLTOWNS)
Good afternoon everybody, I just wanted to chime in on the tropics as I know we had some scary looking model maps being bandied about over the past day that show strong impacts into the Mid-Atlantic and New England, including our little corner of southwestern New England.

The thing is, it’s September. The tropical season lasts into the end of November, and while we’ve had a quiet first half of the season, it looks like things ARE getting more active.

However, I am not going to post maps about possible tropical impacts 10 days out. It provides no value, and only serves to get some people anxious and worried.

I will keep tabs on any tropical systems and of course keep you updated should they look like they have the potential to impact us here.

Until then, steady as she goes, and hang in there this week, as cooler temps arrive by Friday, and they look to last at least into early next week.

Five days in the 70s? #GIMMEGIMME

P.S. Please scroll for this morning’s weather report for details for tonight…a new report will be posted in the morning. Good night and TRY to have a pleasant tomorrow…

SUMMARY:
–Good morning everybody, while we can never say never, based on what I’m seeing, I do believe this week will be the last prolonged heat and humidity surge this summer
–That is not to say additional heat and humidity won’t resurge later this month, but after Thursday, I think we get the longest break from the heat in the past two months
–For today, the Bermuda high flexes its atmospheric muscle once again, pumping humidity and heat back into the region on southwest flow
–For who A) Dig summer and B) have the day off, you are completely psyched for a summer holiday to beat the band. Enjoy it and soak it up!
–The air conditioners are back on for tonight, as air temps will only settle down to near 70 degrees, generally
–For Tuesday, we are watching a cold front that wants to come down from Maine and POSSIBLY reach our area
–I don’t believe it will make it through our region, staying east of us, which would prompt Heat Advisories once again with similar temps and dewpoints
–However, the boundary may get into Worcester County and southern NH, which could produce some scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and night, with the best chance east of the CT River into CMass
–Lows will again be near 70 with high humidity
–Wednesday is the trickiest call. It will all depend on where the cold front ends up. For now, expect highs in the 80s with continued humidity
–Thursday may be the hottest of the week, with highs in the low to perhaps mid 90s and high humidity
–This will be the final heat surge for a while, as the heat rides along and east of an incoming cold front that will bring in cooler air for Friday into the weekend, and into early next week
–Showers and thunderstorms will be likely Thursday afternoon into Friday morning
–The weekend does look unsettled as the front may be tipped from SW to NE, to W to E, stalling along the cold front, which best chance for showers south of the Pike
–Highs look to drop into the 70s for the foreseeable future after Thursday, so let’s hope that holds.

Have a great day!
