SUMMARY:
–Good morning everybody, can you get away to the beach today? Get away to the beach today. This might be the last sweet beach day for a while.
–After early morning fog lifts, we’ll enjoy a sweet late-summer day with warm temps and handle-able humidity
–High pressure will slowly be sliding east of the region, and allowing a return southwesterly flow to bring some unseasonable warmth for mid-September
–We’re sitting in a huge ridge over the central and eastern U.S. and Florence is trapped in that ridge, which is why it isn’t moving much and just causing horrific flooding in NC. Absolutely terrible down there.
–For us, this means a couple of warm and nice days today and tomorrow, followed by the remnants of Florence as it rounds the western edge of the departing ridge, rides north, and hooks up with the zonal (i.e. west-east) jet stream, which will send it careening through New England on Tuesday
–Highs tomorrow will be 75-80 with lows in the 60s as humidity increases ahead of Florence
–Tuesday is a super rainy day, with dew points in the low 70s, highs in the mid 70s, super humid, and tropical downpours all day long with some street and small stream flooding possible.
–We could see anywhere from 2″ to as much as 5″ of rain
–By Wed/Thurs, we cool down and dry way out, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and bone dry humidity
–Friday into Saturday brings a little warm up with a brief increase in humidity before a cold front comes through Saturday and cools us back down, with highs in the 60s by end of weekend with bone dry air again
–We’re shifting the pattern bit by bit, folks. Autumn will arrive with season-appropriate weather

Have a great day!
