(4:50pm Sat) ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE INTO TONIGHT… WARM TOMORROW BEFORE A COLD FRONT BRINGS SCATTERED SHOWERS BY AFTERNOON INTO OUR REGION… MONDAY LOOKING COOL AND CLOUDY…
Good afternoon everybody, it’s been a gray day for most of us today with temps hanging in the mid 50s to low 60s, which is a good 5 degrees cooler than expected given the more extensive cloud cover. I’ve even seen reports of fog in some higher elevation areas of southern VT as well.
I believe that part of why we keep seeing more cloudier-than-expected days is that the moisture has never really been fully scoured out of this part of the country at all levels since the late summer. We’re still in a summer-ish pattern, but by the end of the weekend, the hope and expectation is that will change. I will keep you updated as we get closer to that timeframe.
Until then, we’ve got one more week of fairly humid, cloudy, unseasonably warm and showery weather, especially during mid week.
For tonight, an isolated shower or two will be possible, otherwise it should remain cloudy and cool, with a few patches of fog and/or drizzle possible. Generally, though, it should remain dry for most of us. Lows will be in the 50s.
For tomorrow, a cold front will be tracking north to south through our region by the evening. This will keep us locked in the clouds, but will allow for a brief-warm up as one frontal boundary attempts to lift north through the region before merging with an incoming cold front from the north, which should press back south through the region.
Highs tomorrow are expected to be in the upper 60s in the high terrain of the Berkshires and southern VT with low to mid 70s in the valley and lower elevations down into CT and east into CMass.
Showers should arrive by early afternoon and may last until around sunset or so as the cold front works through. Behind that, the wind will shift out of the north with lows in the low 50s and patchy fog in spots.
Monday looks cloudy with additional showers and highs near 60 degrees.
The next best chance for sunshine will be Tuesday as we warm back up for what is more likely than not to be the last warm up before our pattern flips into deeper Autumn.
As we all know, time will tell, but that’s how it looks now. Have a good evening…

(10:05AM Sat) CLOUDS WILL WIN OUT TODAY WITH ONLY A FEW SUNNY BREAKS…
Good morning everybody, I had thought we’d see a bit more in the way of sunny breaks today, but it’s not to be. Low level moisture continues to spill east this morning as high pressure moves away to the east and south. You can see in this satellite shot that EMass has sunshine, and while there are a few breaks noted to our west, low level moisture will only be on the increase this afternoon and tonight. So while it will be pleasant in terms of temperature and humidity, gray will be the predominant color of the sky today… a few drizzle patches are possible as well…

SUMMARY
–Good morning everybody, while not Frost Advisories were posted by NWS, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of a few light frosts in some spots this AM, let me know
–For today, as high pressure slides off to our east, and then to our southeast, a more moist air mass will begin to work into the region
–While that moisture will initially be in the form of a partly cloudy skies today, it will combine with a back door cold front Sunday to produce some rain showers
–But for today and tonight, we should remain dry
–For tomorrow, we should also have a partly sunny day, but showers will be possible late. Highs will be near 70 degrees
–As the cold front drops south and through the region tomorrow, we cool down at night with lows in the 50s
–A few scattered showers are possible on Monday as we cool down into the 60s for highs
–Tuesday through Thursday looks like it could be our final warm surge with highs well into the 70s, especially on Wednesday when some of us could reach 80 degrees. It will be humid by the middle of next week
–If we don’t hit 80 next week, I am reasonably confident that we wont hit it again until next Spring
–Showers will be possible by Thursday as another cold front comes into the region
–I think by next week we more fully enter Autumn
Have a great day!
