For tonight, our cold front is currently (6:20pm Mon) located in western NY/PA and the warm front is just getting through the region, so any mild air won’t last long as the front sweeps the warm wedge east by midnight.
Scattered showers continue to work through the region at times, and heavier showers with some possible rumbles of thunder are expected before midnight, and possibly just after.
Brief wind gusts are possible in any heavy downpours, though the best chance for thunder will be down in southern CT/RI, where a few localized damaging wind gusts are possible. In fact, the Cape could blow over 50mph tonight!
STRONG GUSTY WINDS OVERNIGHT
As our cold front sweeps the region to the east and kicks the showers out of here, strong northwesterlies will develop as we clear out, and as you can see from the attached short-term wind gust map, we could blow at times between 30-40mph, maybe a little higher in the high terrain. With wet ground affecting root systems, this could produce some isolated power outages or tree/limb damage by dawn.
Tomorrow looks sweet with sunshine, but cool conditions with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and lows in the 30s. Winds should slacken a bit but could still gust out of the west over 20mph at times.
Wednesday features another cold frontal passage as the cooler waves keep coming As I mentioned previously, between early Thursday morning and early Friday morning, our growing season is likely coming to an end with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, which should prompt Freeze Warnings late this week across portions of southwestern New England.

(12:00pm Mon) LATE-MONTH STORM SIGNALS CONTINUE TO GROW… A COLD RAINY NOR’EASTER POSSIBLE, WITH HILLTOWN SNOW POTENTIAL TO BE MONITORED OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS…
Good afternoon everybody, this is just a quick post to let you know that while it IS two weeks away and doesn’t mean much at all at this point, it is worth noting that I continue to see a combination of colder-than-average temps and lower than average pressures co-located over the eastern U.S. during the last week of this month.
The actual weather that transpires at the surface that we walk upon comes down to so many factors and atmospheric components, and if those shift by 50-100 miles, then it’s the difference of substantial impacts vs. no impacts.
However, I wanted you to know what is surfacing in the data, and that I will keep you updated on any stormy transpirations that may visit our shores before November rolls around, be they wet or white, or a combination thereof. I do not believe that enough cold air would be available to produce another Halloween Nor’easter event, but to say wintry precip would be impossible in southern New England wouldn’t be accurate to say.
For this Monday, drizzle and showers will continue today. As can happen at this time of year with colder air in place, it can be tough for warm fronts to dislodge it north and east.
The warm front is located over central PA now and trying to push northeast through the region. Temps there are in the mid to upper 60s, but we are sitting in the mid 40s to mid 50s, where we may end up staying for much of the day, save for a late afternoon mild burst before more showers move through. As such, any wind gusts should hold off until (and if) our warm front makes it through.
I’ll update this evening, stay dry…

(6:45am Mon) LOCALIZED BLACK ICE POSSIBLE UP IN S.VT AND NORTH OF RT. 2 IN WMASS ALONG THE CT RIVER WITH PATCHY FOG IN SOME SPOTS AS WELL… TWO BATCHES OF RAIN SHOWERS TODAY, ONE THIS AM WITH WARM FRONT, THEN BREEZY AND MILD… SECOND ROUND LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EVENING… THEN COOLER AND DRIER THIS WEEK WITH A FEW RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WED…
Good morning everybody, salient point-making will be accompanied by dashes below:
–We’re starting off in the low 30s in a few spots, but mainly the mid 30s to low 40s
–A warm front is approaching with a line of showers, which moves in after sunrise which occurs at 7:02am
–After showers move through about mid to late morning, gusty southerly winds to 25mph will set up
–It will be milder than this weekend with highs upper 50s to low 60s with a muggy feel this afternoon, as this is a weak copy of the pattern that just left our shores
–High pressure to our south has tried to flex back, but it’s a weak shadow of its former self and will be quashed south and away by more incoming cold air
–This afternoon should just be mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers from around lunch time through late afternoon
–More heavier showers should move in by late afternoon and last into the evening ahead of the incoming cold front
–We should generally see a quarter inch to a half inch or so of rain by tomorrow morning (see attached map)
–Tuesday through Friday looks mostly sunny with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s through the period, with one exception
–Wednesday will see another cold front coming through, and a few showers will be possible
–This will drop temps Wednesday night to near 30 degrees, and another frost or even freeze is possible by Thursday AM
–Thursday highs will only be in the 40s
–The weekend looks colder, with Sunday being the pick of the weekend, and Saturday producing a few showers and more cloudiness
–Some snow showers are possible in the hilltowns and Berkshires Saturday evening
Have a great day!
