DISCUSSION
–Good morning folks, it is cold out this morning. Why does the cold feel colder as you grow older? What is that? It’s weird and I don’t like it, not one bit!
–No matter, even if I turn into a frozen caveman from the inside out some Winter, I’ll no doubt have a smile on my face as the snow blankets my frozen ice coffin. Too morbid?
–Anyway, we’ve got some patchy fog out there, with Orange, MA reporting fog as of 7am. Anyone else seeing fog? Seems to be concentrated around the CT River
–Any fog and low clouds will burn off as the day wears on, and we’ll make a run at 60 degrees in the valley, which in this pattern is the new “Wow, it’s really warm out!” temperature #PatternFlip
–We’ll stay in the mid 50s in the Berkshires, and all of us should enjoy a mostly sunny, Fall day. Great for foliage viewing if you ask me
–I just got a new camera and am planning on taking more weather photos to share with you all, so if I can figure out how to do that I’ll pop a few on later today
–For tonight, we should be clear for most of the night with temps again dropping into the mid to upper 30s but generally a couple of degrees warmer than last night
–For Monday, we’re cloudy by dawn, and rain showers will be possible in spots during the morning, with the steadiest rain by afternoon and into the early evening
–About a half inch to inch of rain is possible as low pressure races north of our area through SE Canada
–A warm front pushes through tomorrow and will bring gusty southwest winds to 30mph (best chance for those gusts is in the high terrain) in the afternoon
–In fact some places in northern CT could reach the low 60s for highs, and dew point temps will crest 60 as well, so it will feel fairly muggy Monday afternoon and evening before drying out (see attached DP map)
–A cold front comes through overnight and turns those same wind speeds out of the northwest
–By Tuesday, northwesterly wind gusts should slacken during the day to about 20-25mph as colder, drier air moves through the region
–Tuesday through Friday look generally partly to mostly sunny and dry with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s to low 40s with a couple of exceptions
–Wednesday will see a cold front move through that could trigger a few showers, but not as widespread as yesterday was or tomorrow is expected to be
–As that Wed. cold front moves through, temps will PLUMMET into the upper 20s to low 30s Wednesday night into Thursday morning, when Freeze Warnings may be issued, as well as Frost Advisories for folks who didn’t frost this morning
–Highs on Thursday will only be in the 40s!
–Showers are possible next weekend as a frontal boundary and low pressure system look to interact with each other over New England
–It’s continued cool weather for as far as the eye can see, and there will be some hilltown snow chances into November, the way it looks now.
Have a great day, and stay tuned with me this Fall and Winter, as there is more than one signal indicating that this could be an active, snowy cold season, we shall see…
P.S. My 2019 Weather Wall Calendar Sale launches next Saturday morning and I’ll featuring a new photographer this year with fabulous new images. The educational sections will be focused all on clouds this year, so please look out for that next weekend!
