Western Mass Weather for October 12, 2021

6:55AM-TUES: PATCHY FOG, DENSE IN SPOTS, THIS MORNING IN THE GREATER WMASS REGION (INCLUDES ADJACENT COUNTIES IN VT, NH, MA, NY, AND CT)… OTHERWISE, FOG BURNS OFF AND WE HAVE A SWEET STRETCH OF PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES THIS WEEK WITH WARM TEMPS AND MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS… STRONG FRONT MOVES THROUGH LATE SATURDAY INTO EARLY SUNDAY WITH RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES POSSIBLE WITH THUNDER… THEREAFTER, WE COOL DOWN TOWARD SEASONABLE LEVELS… STILL WATCHING FOR FIRST FROST SIGNALS… HUG THE ONES YOU’RE WITH…

Good morning folks, there’s plenty of ground clouds out there and visibility is way reduced, down to a quarter mile or below in some areas, so take it easy on the early morning treks through our hills and dales. Overall, we have a beautiful weather week ahead before we get some dynamic changes over the weekend.

We’ll jump into all of our weather details below, but first let’s get a word from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo

SUMMARY:
–Temps are mainly in the low to mid 50s as are dewpoints, which allowed for condensation and fog this morning
–Fog should generally burn off by 9 or 10am, after which we’ll develop a mostly sunny day, especially by afternoon
–Highs will reach the low to mid 70s, with lows in the low 50s with more patchy fog overnight
–We’ve got a big trough in the west, and a big ridge in the east, which is why the Rockies are seeing snow this week, with over a foot into eastern Montana!
–Our corresponding ridge is allowing for temps to soar well above average in the eastern U.S.
–Tomorrow/Wednesday is another lovely day with highs in the low to mid 70s under partly to mostly sunny skies with a shower possible at night as a brief wave passes nearby
–Lows will bottom out in the low to mid 50s
–Thursday and Friday should also feature partly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 70s and light wind, with lows in the 50s
–It’s the weekend, once again, that features some inclement weather
–We’ll have a storm ripping up through the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes, which will induce strong southerly flow into our region ahead of a strong cold frontal passage which looks to work through the region later Saturday into early Sunday
–Highs Saturday will rise into the low to mid 70s as southerly winds gust over 25mph at times with clouds increasing
–Showers might arrive as early as later afternoon, but for now this looks like an overnight rain event
–Some thunder is possible, and some timing changes are also possible, so stay tuned for updates
–Rain should clear out by Sunday morning, as northwesterly breezes setup across the region, with potential for a blustery Sunday afternoon
–Highs Sunday and Monday will only reach the upper 50s to low 60s with lows in the 40s as a Canadian airmass overspreads the WMass region with more autumnal conditions

We’ve got a lot of seconds and moments to move through before next weekend, so let’s put one foot in front of the other today, and do the best we can with what we’ve got – it’s all we can ever do.

Have a great day!
