On Monday we start off dry and cloudy, but will see some showers by afternoon and into the evening as weak low pressure passes off the coast to our south. Highs will be in the upper 40s, with lows in the low 40s.
For Tuesday, another upper level system passes to our west, opening up the rainy floodgates from the south one more time with heavy rain Tuesday and Tuesday night and mild temps into the 60s.
We then clear out for Wednesday and Thursday with more sunshine on the way.
Have a great night!

A CHANGEABLE 24 HOURS AHEAD… HEAVY RAIN, THUNDER, STRONG WIND, COOLING TEMPS, AND SUN BY TOMORROW… WIND ADVISORIES AND HIGH WIND WARNINGS CONTINUE TODAY…. FLASH FLOOD WATCHES ARE NOW POSTED FOR NCT AND WMASS, W/ FLOOD ADVISORIES IN BERKSHIRE COUNTY… (5:40am Sat)
Good morning everybody, heavy rain moved in overnight, and continues this morning, though the back edge of precip is already in Berkshire County and western CT. With a mainly south-southwest to north-northeast precip flow, rain should continue until mid morning to as late as noon from west to east over our region.
Additional scattered showers are possible this afternoon as well. FYI – the Park River in northern CT has a Flood Warning issued by NWS as minor flooding is possible there.
You can see in the attached satellite image the sharp back edge to the cloud. This formation is actually a good example of what is called a “baroclinic leaf”, which in simple terms represents an area of rising air in front of an incoming cold front.
As that edge pushes east of our region, west winds will gust 30-50mph today, perhaps a bit stronger in some high elevation areas. Wind Advisories continue for SVT, WMass, NCT, and SWNH, with High Wind Warnings in CMass and EMass. Don’t forget to secure loose objects today, including lawn signs.
We could see a few sunny breaks later in the day, especially the farther west you go, although it’s expected to be a mostly cloudy today.
Strong gusty winds will continue this evening and tonight, and as I had mentioned, some power outages are possible, along with some downed limbs or trees.
In addition, a few snow showers are possible as colder air rushes in this evening. If they do form, they are most likely to occur over Berkshire County and the southern Greens in VT.
We should see partial clearing tonight and will drop into the 30s for lows. We will enjoy a sunny Sunday tomorrow with highs either side of 50 degrees, and a partly cloudy evening with lows in the low 30s.
Even though we should see some sunny periods on Monday, by early that afternoon through Tuesday night, more scattered showers are on the way as another storm passes to our west.
More on that as we get closer in terms of timing intensity, and when we can expect to see more sunshine next week.
Try to make the best of your day. Life is short. It comes and it goes, it’s here and then it’s gone. All we can do while we’re here is to make the best out of what shows up in our lives, whether it’s related to our outer weather, or our inner weather. Stay safe, dry and warm…
