Western Mass Weather for November 1, 2018

BOUNDARY TRYING TO LIFT THROUGH THE REGION, SOME HAVE MILD/SUNNY, SOME HAVE COOL/FOGGY… (3pm Thurs)
Good afternoon everybody, for folks generally north of Rt. 9 there’s fog, some light showers, a bit of drizzle, and cloudy skies. For folks along and south of it, blue skies are showing, some partial sunshine, and milder temperatures.

Overall, this boundary should tend to sag south after reaching its-soon-to-be northward extent.

This means that patchy fog, drizzle and light showers will be mixed in with overcast skies.

Increasing amounts of showers will move back in after midnight as the front pushes back north one more time for tomorrow.

You can see the cloud break in CT and up towards the north-south center of WMass in the attached satellite images. That’s a big cloud to the west. Rain on the way tonight, tomorrow and first half of Saturday.

Second half of Saturday through Monday looks nice…

Good morning everybody, it is very mild outside as we start our day with a warm front having lifted north of us overnight. Temps are already in the 40s and 50s!

This warm front will collapse south through our region as a cold front later today and help focus some afternoon showers over SVT and WMass, though they should be scattered and not overly heavy.

Otherwise expect a mostly cloudy day with some sunny breaks possible south of the MassPike down into CT. The temps we have this morning will serve as the highs for today.

For tonight, lows will sit in the upper 40s with cloudy conditions early. However, as the frontal boundary to our south moves back north through our region as a warm front, additional showers will develop by either side of midnight and last into the morning and afternoon tomorrow. Some downpours are possible, and a thunderstorm is also possible, especially west of I-91 out over the Berkshires.

Highs on Friday will be in the low to mid 60s! It will be quite mild, but comparatively soupy as moisture and humidity surges north ahead of a cold front that will move through on Saturday.

WIDESPREAD RAINFALL FRI NIGHT INTO SAT
By late Friday night, a serious slug of heavy rainfall, embedded thunderstorms, and gusty southerly winds will rake the region through the first half of Saturday.

A storm will develop along an incoming cold front, and produce showers, downpours, and thunderstorms. Some storms may be strong and with strong wind shear aloft, we again cannot rule out a brief or weak tornado or two, especially over southeast MA.

Highs will be in the 50s. Rain should abate by mid afternoon, and some snow showers may form over the high terrain before the precip gets out of here to the east.

Behind the front Saturday night, strong westerly winds will gust 30-40mph at times as we cool into the 30s for lows.

Sunday and Monday look beautiful with partly to mostly sunny skies, cool, dry and highs near 50 and lows in the 30s.
