Good evening everybody, I know know who will be reading this on the Friday of a long holiday weekend, but post away I shall.

I’m going to employ my tried-and-true standby, the double–dashes.

Double dashes don’t let you down.

They’re always there for you.

Need to make a list?

Have points to get across in writing? I

n the mood for item by item elucidation?

Double dashes got your back. Double dashes got my back. And now, without further adieu, I give you the one, the only, double dashes!

SUMMARY
–Primary low pressure over the Ohio Valley is giving way to secondary storm development near the DelMarVa Peninsula
–This secondary low will take over, and help generated a low level easterly jet streak, which will combine with part of the upper jet stream overhead along with copious moisture to produce a widespread half inch to two inches of rainfall during this evening, overnight and through Saturday morning
–With cold high pressure to the north pairing up with our secondary surface low south of New England, an anomalous cold pool will produce lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s tonight
–This will allow rain to mix with and change to snow in the high terrain of the southern Green Mountains, and possibly in the highest peaks of northwest MA and even on top of Monadnock in NH
–A coating to 2″ of wet snow is possible over these high peaks, and it’s even snowing on Stratton Mountain and near Equinox Mountain in western Bennington County
–After our soaking into Saturday morning, we’ll see a break in the steady rainfall
–Patches of drizzle, an occasional light shower, and east to northeast wind gusts of 20-30mph tomorrow afternoon will combine with highs in the low 40s to low 50s form high terrain to low to produce a RAW DAY more akin to March than almost-June
–After relatively dry Saturday night with chilly lows in the mid 30s in the high southern Green mountains, to upper 30s to mid 40s elsewhere through the WMass region and surrounding counties, our cold high pressure dives southeast into Nova Scotia, blocking the next coastal storm from tracking west to east
–This will combine with an upper level low to our west, both of which will send Sunday’s rainstorm right up and into New England from south to north, with another soaking rainfall starting early Sunday morning and lasting, in varying intensities, through the day, the night and into Memorial Day morning
–Highs Sunday will only reach the 50s with lows in the 40s, with highs well into the 60s on Memorial Day
–It remains to be seen how Memorial Day plays out at the moment, but at least some morning showers are expected, with some brightening during the afternoon, with (hopefully) some breaks of sun and highs well into the 60s
–The warmth returns Tuesday and beyond, and humidity arrives late week with thunderstorm chances by Friday

Have a great evening, and stay warm and dry, folks!

SOAKING RAINS FOR MANY ON THE WAY TONIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH COOL NORTHEASTERLY BREEZES CREATING A RAW DAY ON SATURDAY WITH SOME NOT EVEN REACHING 50º… MORE RAIN WITH A SECOND STORM FOR SUNDAY BY LATE MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING… MEMORIAL DAY IS THE PICK OF THE LONG WEEKEND WITH PARTLY SUNNY SKIES AND HIGHS NEAR 70º… WE WARM NEXT WEEK, AND HUMIDIFY TOWARD THE LATE WEEK PERIOD WITH SHOWERS BY MID TO LATE WEEK… 6:50am Friday…

Good morning everybody, we’ve got some partial sunshine out there this morning which should last for several more hours before clouds overspread the region, thicken and lower.

If you’ve been clamoring for rainfall, you’ll happy to know that I floated up into the clouds the other day, and made the peoples’ case with graphs, charts, data, and screenshots of all of your complaints, and the case was ruled in your favor.

Please, no payment necessary, but do refer me to family and friends whenever they need a specific weather outcome for their specific situation.

I may have to institute a Floating Fee, because levitation to that height and hovering for that long requires a lot of brain fuel and metaphysical interaction with the surrounding ethers.

Moving on, we’ve got a storm system that will track east out of the Ohio Valley and south of New England tonight, re-strengthening as it does.

A low level easterly jet streak (i.e. a faster moving air river about a mile above our heads) will create onshore moist flow and combine with a strong part of the upper level jet stream to produce a triple-whammy of atmospheric lift (the area of low pressure being the third area of lift).

This will produce stratiform rainfall, heavy at times especially south of the MA Pike) starting just before sunset and lasting overnight and through Saturday morning.

Temps will likely cool out of the mid 50s to mid 60s today and into the 40s to low 50s this evening as rain falls into dry air at the surface initially, causing evaporative cooling to result.

Lows tonight will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s as high pressure tracks to our north in tandem with our coastal low, which is a winter-type setup!

We wake up to periods of rain in the morning, and by early afternoon it should break up into isolated showers with some drizzle possible. Northeast winds will gust to 25mph, and it will be RAW, with highs only in the mid 40s to low 50s!

Saturday night could produce an isolated shower, but ultimately it just looks mostly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 40s.

Clouds thicken again early Sunday morning. Our cool high pressure to the north helping produce the onshore flow dives southeast through Atlantic Canada and just west of the departing coastal low, which will create a mini-block for the second coastal storm, shunting more north-northeasterly into New England.

This means more cool rain is coming on Sunday, likely starting in the late morning and lasting into the evening. Highs Sunday will reach the mid 50s to low 60s with lows in the mid to upper 40s.

Despite an early morning light shower on Memorial Day Monday, we should see partly sunny skies develop and we’ll warm into the upper 60s to low 70s, so that day will be the pick of the long weekend by far!

While areas north of the Rt. 2 corridor could see anywhere from half an inch to inch or so of rain, south of there is more likely to see 1 inch up to 2.5″ of rainfall, maybe in 3″ in spots.

The Tuesday through Thursday period looks warmer, with highs in the 75-80º range, with an afternoon instability shower possible each day under partly sunny skies.

Humidity will be increasing by late week, so we can’t rule out thunderstorm activity by that time.

Anyway, I wish I had better news for you over the holiday weekend, but we’re New Englanders, and we’ll make the best out of it.

Have a great day!
