STRONG THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE OVER THE TACONICS, SVT, BERKSHIRES AND LITCHFIELDS THURSDAY EVENING… (6:50pm Tuesday)
Good evening everybody, what a beautiful, dry day out there.
I just wanted to poke my head in to let you know that we’ve got a decent chance for thunderstorms Thursday evening, especially well west of the CT River Valley.
The energy moving into the region will be associated with the convective/tornadic events over the Plains yesterday and today, and with a cold front moving through and a stronger area of diverging air several miles aloft, there could be enough lift and moisture present to produce strong thunderstorms capable of dropping hail and/or damaging wind gusts, with the best chance for strong storms from about the western hilltowns in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties westward.
Not looking like a severe event, but worth mentioning for a heads up.
More info as we get closer, but for now, enjoy the dry evening with temps dropping to the upper 30s and low 40s with northwest wind gusts to 25mph, slackening after midnight.
Wednesday is looking sweet with highs in the mid 60s to upper 60s, low humidity, and mostly sunny skies with lighter winds.
Have a great night, everybody….

A TRIO OF PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY DAYS WILL BE MOST WELCOME… SHOWERS MOVE BACK IN THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING… DRYING WORKS BACK IN FOR FRIDAY EVENING INTO SATURDAY BEFORE SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWERS MOVE BACK INTO THE REGION… BACK HALF OF SUNDAY INTO MEMORIAL MONDAY LOOKS FAIR AND SEASONABLY WARM… THE TWO SHOWERY PERIODS DO NOT LOOK LIKE A WASH-OUT… (6:20am Tues)
Good morning everybody, thanks for the reports yesterday. Before I get into it the details, at the moment, it looks like total rainfall through Memorial Day may not even equal an inch in some spots, more like a third of an inch to three-quarters of an inch, total. This is not a big deal, so before anyone gets hung up on two rounds of showers over the next 7 days, for the moment it’s looking like not a big deal, but I will continue to update as we get closer.
SUMMARY
–Pressure gradient between departing trough and incoming high pressure will kick up NW wind gusts 20-30mph today, which should slacken tonight
–Highs today should reach the low to mid 60s under mostly sunny skies. It will be a bit brisk, but tolerable compared to soup yesterday, and cold soup a week ago
–Lows tonight will plummet into the upper 30s to low 40s with calm winds, clear skies and radiational cooling
–High pressure moves into the region for Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s, life is good!
–Lows will dip down into the 45-50 degree range under partly cloudy skies
–For Thursday, we should see partly sunny skies as high pressure departs east and a disturbance dives southeast toward New England
–Highs should land in the 65-70 degree range with a few showers possible by late in the afternoon and evening
–Scattered showers are expected Thursday night into Friday morning with lows in the 50s
–Friday starts off with a few showers and clouds, and then should be drying by the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 60s with partly sunny skies developing
–Saturday, Sunday afternoon and Memorial Day all look like they should be mostly dry with partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 70s
–However, some showers should work into the region overnight on Saturday night with another system moving through the flow
All in all, it’s a pretty good looking 7-day outlook folks! Have a great day!
