Western Mass Weather for May 15, 2021

EARLY SUMMER-TYPE WARMTH SURGES NEXT WEEK… A GENERALLY NICE WEEKEND AHEAD WITH AN ISOLATED SPRINKLE/SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON POSSIBLE, BETTER CHANCE FOR SCATTERED SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING… ONE MORE ROUND MONDAY AFTERNOON AND THEN WE SHOULD WARM AND DRY UNTIL LATE WEEK… FIRST WIDESPREAD 80s DAYS ARE POSSIBLE… 8:45am SAT…

Good morning everybody, despite a few areas of clouds this morning, many of us are dealing with sunshine to start the day, and despite a few afternoon sprinkles or light showers, it should be mostly dry today.

Some fair weather clouds will again bubble up in the afternoon, but with highs reaching the low to upper 70s, outdoor plans should be a go in everybody’s mind, even though a quick-hitting sprinkle (my new band name, perhaps? Probably not) may move through your yard this afternoon.

For tonight, any daytime (a/k/a “diurnal”) showers dissipate and lows will drop into the low to mid 40s with partly cloudy skies expected.

For Sunday, we’ll have a disturbance moving into the region that will bring a chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm with gusty winds and/or small hail. Best chance south of the Pike will be earlier in the afternoon, and north of there later in the afternoon.

We’ll again start off with mostly sunny skies, and see clouds build as the heating of the day progresses. Highs will reach the low to mid 70s with lows in the upper 40s.

For Monday, we’ll go through one more day of morning sunshine and afternoon showers and/or a thunderstorm with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Lows will be near 50º.

Starting on Tuesday, high pressure in the eastern third of the country presses more fully into our region, and should fully dry us out at least for Tuesday and Wednesday, and possibly Thursday as well.

This should create abundant sunshine along with very warm temperatures, reaching well into the 70s on Tuesday, and the upper 70s to low 80s Wednesday and Thursday! We can’t even rule out some folks touching 85º in a few spots. Lows will drop into the 50s on these warm days.

By late week, we should see a cold front moving into the region which will bring more showers and thunderstorms possible for the end of the week, but it will still be warm.

The Warmening is happening!
