[TOMORROW’S STORM TRENDING SOUTH… BEST CHANCE FOR SNOW WILL BE IN THE LITCHFIELD HILLS, SOUTHEASTERN BERKSHIRES, WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTY HILLS, AND TOLLAND COUNTY HIGH TERRAIN… OTHERWISE, RAIN SHOWERS FOR FOLKS MAINLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE PIKE…6:45am Tuesday]
Good morning everybody, I must say, that was a pretty day yesterday! Nice to get one moderate (and for some, bordering on major) snowfall before Spring continues its springing as we head toward April.
Seem like a general 3-8″ fell in Hampshire and Franklin counties, with some lesser amounts south, and a few 10″ amounts reported.
If you could post final snow totals below that would be great.
For today, high pressure builds into the region, which will produce partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 45-50 degree range. With the higher March sun angle, and actual sunshine, we will get some good melting in today, though I don’t expect it will all be gone in most spots, but some will see the ground again.
Lows tonight will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s under partly cloudy skies, so some patches of black ice will form from snow melt refreezing.
For Wednesday, a potent storm system will be tracking east through the southern Ohio Valley in the zonal flow, and proceed off the coastline, but strengthening high pressure to our north may shunt this low out to sea to our south, or at least confine its impacts to areas mainly south of the MA Pike in CT, RI and southeast MA.
Timing would have rain and snow arrive by noon tomorrow and depart late tomorrow night. Best chance of any new coatings or very light accumulations would be the Litchfields, northwest Hartford County, high terrain in Tolland and Windham Counties in northeast CT, and maybe a few areas south of the Pike in WMass.
I will post an evening report with an update, as this system could become a miss to the south with a cloudy day and highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Lows will bottom out in the upper 20s to low 30s.
Thursday and Friday close out the week milder, with highs either side of 50 degrees under partly sunny skies with a shower possible Thursday night into Friday. Lows will be in the low 30s both nights.
More inclement weather is possible Saturday night into Sunday, so the weekend outlook will need to be refined as get closer.
Have a good day, and stay hydrated with warm fluids. Keep that immune system up and chugging along, folks, take care…
