———————————
Good morning everybody, we’ve got a wide range of temperatures out there, with some folks in the western hilltowns up into SVT in the upper teens to low 20s, and other well into the 20s to low 30s in the Pioneer Valley.

No real accumulating snow manifested overnight (did you see any?), except for some snow showers that fell but didn’t stick.

The cold air did not get in here in time to catch the shrinking and departing precip shield, partially due to the fact that low tracked about 75 miles further south than expected just 24 hours ago. Welcome to the world of weather.

For today, northerly wind gusts will continue this morning, reaching speeds of 25-35mph at times, and this will drive wind chills down into the teens for the morning, with wind chills in the 20s for afternoon.

Afternoon high air temperatures will reach the low to mid 30s in the high terrain, and 35-40º range down in the valley under abundant sunshine as high pressure now over the Great Lakes continues to press east.

This incoming high will also relax the pressure gradient so morning gusts will transform into afternoon breezes, and continue to lighten and calm down into tonight.

Our final night of Winter will see good radiational cooling forming which occurs when the trifecta of clear skies, dry air, and calm wind combine to send any remaining heat energy out into Space, maximally cooling the surface atmosphere of a region.

Lows will bottom out in the mid to upper teens.

After your chilly morning dog walk for Saturday, you won’t have to bundle up like that for at least the next 10 days, maybe much, much longer *wink*.

A beautiful Spring weekend awaits as we pass the Vernal Equinox at 5:37am tomorrow as we will have just entered Astronomical Twilight (to learn more about the Astronomical, Nautical and Civil Twilight phases, click here: https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/different-types-twilight.html)

Expect full sunshine this weekend, with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s Saturday with lows in the 20s and highs in the mid to upper 50s with a few 60º readings on Sunday with lows near freezing.

For early next week, expect full sunshine again Monday and Tuesday with highs again in the 55-60º range as a high pressure ridge continues to send milder and dry air into the region.

By Wednesday, some clouds should start working in, but it still looks like a fair weather, partly sunny day with highs well into the 50s.

By late week, some showers look possible from a couple of disturbances near the area.

In fact, by Friday or Saturday, a bigger rainstorm looks like it will wind up and track to our northwest, and could send some heavy rain and windy conditions through our region by the start of next weekend.

Have a great day, folks, and remember that whether it’s a pet, a plant, or our people, when we support what we value, it grows, and when we don’t, it withers.
