Western Mass Weather for March 11, 2021

RECORD SETTING WARMTH TODAY ACROSS THE REGION…BREEZY OVERNIGHT AND TOMORROW OUT OF THE WEST… STRONGER WINDS LATE TOMORROW NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING, MIGHT BE MORE REASONABLE PEAKING AT 40MPH OR SO RATHER THAN 50MPH… COLD SUNNY WEEKEND… WINTER WEATHER NEXT WEEK? *INSERT RECORD SCRATCHING SOUND HERE* (7:10pm Thurs)

Good evening everybody, just a quick evening post to say how horrible was that weather today, huh?

JUST AWFUL. BLECH.

Wake me up when it’s December… I’m kidding!!!

Here’s my ode to the Spring surge:

Bones open, loosen
Pores widen, merge with the air
Spring springs within me

We had lots of records broken today as highs surged into the low 70s in many spots, a beautiful day to be alive on Planet Earth!

For tonight, southerly breezes to 20mph or so switch out of the west at more or less the same speeds as a few showers come through with a cold front, that will cool things off by about 10 degrees or so tomorrow.

Lows tonight will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s with similar dewpoints which will further melt the snowpack.

For Friday, any morning showers or clouds give way to increasing sunshine, westerly breezes, and highs in the upper 40s to upper 50s.

The cold air finally arrives with front #2, as do northwesterly wind gusts of 30-40mph overnight into Saturday morning, with a few 45mph gusts possible. Lows will drop into the low to mid 20s.

Northwesterlies gust to 30mph on Saturday under mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, and slacken in the evening with lows in the low to mid 20s under clear skies.

For Sunday, more partial sunshine, more cool conditions, highs either side of 40º, with a shower or flurry possible. Lows plummet into the low to mid teens, very cold with radiational cooling into early Monday morning!

Monday is freezing, literally! Highs should reach to near the freezing mark with sunshine, and lows will be in the upper teens.

The Tuesday through Friday time period is still murky, and we could see some snow to rain on Tuesday, and more potentially wintry weather late next week, as signals continue to show up, so stay tuned, and have a great night!

[THE MILDENING ARRIVES… WIDESPREAD HIGHS IN THE 60S TODAY… CLOUDIER EARLIER, SUNNIER LATER… SOUTHWEST WINDS GUST UP TO 20MPH TODAY AHEAD OF A FRONT TONIGHT… WIND SHIFT TO THE WEST TOMORROW, WHICH IS COOLER BUT STILL MILD… STRONG WINDS OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY MORNING WITH A STRONGER COLD FRONT… SEASONABLY COOL FOR THIS SUNNY WEEKEND, BUT DOWNRIGHT COLD ON MONDAY, THEN WE MODERATE… MID TO LATE NEXT WEEK CONTINUES TO SIGNAL STORMY AND POTENTIALLY WINTRY WEATHER… STAY TUNED… 6:50AM THURS]

Good morning everybody, The Bulletization Mobile(TM), that fictitious automotive purveyor of double dashes aplenty has arrived, horns blaring, lights flashing, engine revving, so as always, I shall comply once more, and produce an itemized list (under duress, mind you) of our salient weather features, found immediately below:

SUMMARY
–Early clouds and patchy fog will give way to sunnier skies as the day wears on
–Once the clouds and fog clears, temps should come up fairly quickly, and reach the low to upper 60s across much of the region (maybe some upper 50s up in the southern Greens)
–A few areas from Springfield south and east may hit the low 70s!
–Southerly and southwesterly winds will gust over 20mph at times ahead of an incoming cold front overnight
–There’s a very low chance for fire spread in parts of southern New England where snow pack is gone
–Clouds will increase this evening, and a few showers are possible into Friday morning, but this will amount to no-big-whoop activity
–Lows will be in the low to mid 40s
–For Friday, westerly winds will gust up to 25mph at times under sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s
–Colder air arrives Friday night with the passage of a pre-midnight stronger cold front, with lows bottoming out into the low to mid 20s
–The bigger story is that northwesterly winds will gust 35-50mph overnight and could cause some isolated outages, and/or tree damage
–It looks to not be as bad as the other day, but still, a noisy night is ahead late tomorrow night
–Saturday looks sunny, gorgeous, but colder, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, and continued gusty, with wind gusts up to 30mph or so out of the west and northwest, slackening late
–Lows will be in the mid to upper 20s under clear skies
–For Sunday, more upper 30s to mid 40s, more sunshine, lighter wind.
–Another cold front crashes the party overnight, bringing more wind gusts and lows in the mid teens, brr!!!! Wind chills in the single digits likely
–Monday reminds us we’re still in Winter, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s under sunny skies with lows in the teens
–The Tuesday through Friday period looks potentially inclement, and we can’t rule out winter weather either especially by Friday when a trough will be swinging through the region accompanied by potential low pressure

Stay tuned for updates, and have a great day, peeps!
