Western Mass Weather for June 21, 2020

#SUNDAYSHORTANDSWEETCAST(6:10am Sunday)
Good morning folks, persistent summer weather conditions continue for the WMass region through Thursday evening, after which we will get an actual wind shift through our region that will tamp our temps and humidity down a bit from Friday through the coming weekend. Until then, we’re very warm to hot and humid with isolated showers, downpours and thunderstorms popping each afternoon and evening, before dissipating at night. Please refer to the Summah-ry below:

SUMMAH-RY
–Temps from Sunday through Wednesday will reach the mid 80s to low 90s from high terrain to low across the region
–Dewpoint temps will reside in the mid to upper 60s for this period as well, so it will be muggy
–Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s generally speaking
–Isolated morning fog banks will be possible each morning, and then burn off by mid morning or so with the high late June sun angle
–Skies will be partly to mostly sunny each day
–Air flow will be out of the south and southwest, and light with few exceptions
–With decent moisture in the region, along with some instability, but no wind shear, very slow-moving and isolated showers, downpours or thunderstorms will pulse up and down quickly each afternoon and evening, as these cells rain themselves out, choking off their own updrafts
–They won’t cover a lot of area, and they won’t move quickly at all. They’ll pulse up, pulse down, form in other areas, but won’t be widespread
–Heavy rain will be the main threat, with a VERY low chance of brief small hail
–This covers Sunday through Wednesday. Rinse and repeat.
–By late Wednesday night into Thursday, a cold front will FINALLY approach the region from a storm now over south-central Canada
–This will bring partly sunny skies on Thursday, and should bring more widespread showers and downpours, with a few thunderstorms possible as the front moves through
–Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, with lows in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees as we start to dry out
–Friday through Sunday looks dry with lower humidity and highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s under mostly sunny skies

Have a great day, and stay hydrated… please report any downpours and t-storm pulse-ups on this or any post today, thank you!

P.S. The attached photo from yesterday was taken by Benjamin Williamson. It shows our Moon and Venus in conjunction with each other, and in similar phases… very cool!!!
