Western Mass Weather for June 16, 2021

FRESHNESS, SUNSHINE, INVIGORATION AND MORE IS YOURS TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY… SATURDAY BRINGS A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FOLLOWED BY A NICER AND WARMER SUNDAY AND MONDAY WITH POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY AS A COMBO FRONT AND POTENTIAL TROPICAL STORM FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO MAY JOIN FORCES OVER NEW ENGLAND… NO HEAT WAVES IN SIGHT… 6:40AM WED…

Good morning fine folks of southwestern New England, let our newfound lower atmospheric freshness fill your lungs with life force this morn!

It really is a gorgeous start to the day with temps in the upper 40s and 50s, and with dewpoint temps a few degrees below the air temp range (see attached chart), which means no fog has formed, and a sunny, fresh day is on the way.

High pressure is building east from the Great Lakes as an upper trough swings northeast and away from the region today.

This high pressure area will join with an upper level ridge which will position itself over New England by Friday, helping to increase our temperatures and humidity Friday and Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon.

For today, highs will reach the upper 60s to mid 70s under sunny skies with low humidity and light wind – just a lovely day! Lows will be CHILLY tonight, dropping into the mid to upper 40s! Bundle up tomorrow morning!

For Thursday, more sunshine is expected with highs well into the 70s, with some upper 70s possible down near Springfield and points south and east. Lows will be chilly again in the upper 40s to near 50º.

For Friday, our temps will increase, and humidity will follow by the night. Highs should reach the mid 70s to low 80s with lows in the 50s with a few showers very late as a warm front approaches the region.

Morning showers on Saturday should give way to a very warm partly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 80s and humid conditions with dewpoints rising into the 60s for a day.

With an incoming cold front, this all should help spawn some scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon as the front sweeps into the region. Lows will dip into the mid to upper 50s as we start to dry out late.

Sunday is the weekend pick in my book, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s with light west flow, and lows in the upper 50s.

Monday looks quite warm with highs in the low to mid 80s, but we have to then watch to see what emerges out of the western Gulf of Mexico over the next several days.

It is possible that a Tropical Storm down that way will form and push onto the eastern TX coastline, and then get drawn northeast along and ahead of an eastward-tracking cold front which could guide said tropical system right into New England, providing copious rainfall (and little wind) for late Monday night into Tuesday.

So stay tuned for updates as get closer, but be sure to enjoy this gorgeous 3-day stretch of dry, sunny, and increasingly warm weather!
