YOU LIKE SUMMAH, SHE LIKES SUMMAH, HE LIKES SUMMAH, WE LIKE SUMMAH, THEY LIKE SUMMAH, WHICH IS GOOD BECAUSE THIS WEEK IS A SUPER SWEET WEEK OF SUMMAH… HELL, EVEN I LIKE SUMMAH WHEN THE HEAT IS DRY… MAKE THE HAY FOLKS, MAKE THE HAY, AND TELL YOUR TOMATOES THAT LIFE IS GOOD AT THE MOMENT… (6:05am Monday)
Good morning peeps, we’ve got atmospheric peace in the valley after our meteorological rumble in the alley this weekend (10 points and my undying appreciation if you guess the lyrical reference).
The short story is that the next 4 days are going to be delightful and feature abundant and brilliant star shine as we begin closing Solar Cycle 24 and open to Solar Cycle 25 (the first sunspot of which was likely seen yesterday).
As you can see in the attached surface pressure map, high pressure is huge of the Great Lakes and sprawling eastward into New England through the week.
The general northerly-component flow will keep our dewpoints in check, and foster tolerable humidities until later Thursday and Friday, by which time it will increase substantially.
THE DAILIES
Monday/today: Any patchy fog will burn off in SVT/SWNH, but clouds will build this morning in northern CT, possibly reaching north to the Mass Pike.
The rest of us will see mostly sunny skies all day. Even where clouds build to the south, they will dissipate by early to mid afternoon and we’ll see radiant sunshine by later today. With light winds, highs will reach the low to mid 80s with low dewpoints/humidity, with lows in the low 50s under clear skies. Quite cool for early July!
Tuesday and Wednesday: Clear, calm, sunny, fairly dry, highs mid to upper 80s, possibly reaching 90 by Wednesday, with lows in the 50s. A great sleeping weather week through Wednesday night
Thursday: High pressure departs to our east and out to sea, creating a return southwesterly flow, which will usher in higher humidity by the afternoon and evening.
In addition, low pressure will be tracking along the U.S./Canadian border, and a warm front will bring in a more unstable air mass.
I think much of Thursday is going to be mostly sunny, but by mid afternoon or so, clouds will build, and by evening we should see some scattered showers and thunderstorms, lasting into the overnight hours.
Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s again, with some low 80s in SVT and the high terrain of WMass. Lows will sit in the low to mid 60s with the humid air in place.
Friday: More scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, at least during the first half of the day, but depending on the speed of cold front departure to our east, more showers and storms could be present in the evening, but this isn’t set in stone.
The Weekend: Saturday is looking great right now, with mostly sunny skies, drier air, and highs in the low to mid 80s, and lows near 60 degrees. Sunday looks a bit warmer with highs mid to upper 80s and at least partial sunshine, with potential for showers Sunday night, but for now both days look dry and mostly sunny, which is great news for the Green River Festival!
I will update you throughout the week, and hope you have a great day! Summah!
