(7:25am Thurs) DOWNPOURS HAVE GENERALLY ENDED, BUT MORE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL FIRE TODAY AS OUR COLD FRONT IS STILL WEST OF US…
Good morning everybody, it’s still very humid out there, and showers are still moving thorugh the area, despite the heavy downpours being mostly a thing of the past.
High humidity will continue today, as our cold frontal boundary is still west of us over the Hudson River Valley of eastern NY state.
This will slowly drift east, but not before more showers rain out over WMass and surrounding counties.
Highs will be in the low 80s today, and it should be mostly cloudy. Any sunny breaks will help destabilize the atmosphere by heating the surface up, and adding to what will be increasing lapse rates as cooler air moves aloft.
It is the stronger lapse rates that will give us a better shot at producing actual thunderstorms, which we haven’t seen many of over this week due to poor lapse rates.
We should see showers and storms come to an end by this evening.
More showers and storms will be expected for tomorrow afternoon and evening with the passing of a secondary cold front. The weekend looks AWESOME.
I will post about the weekend and next-week period this evening. Have a great day, and keep the rain gear handy!
