[HOT AND HUMID TODAY, SPOT SHOWER/STORM… SCATTERED SHOWERS/STORMS EXPECTED TOMORROW, AS WELL FOR THE FIRST HALF OF TUESDAY, THEN DRYING, CALMING CONDITIONS THROUGH THURSDAY… WE HEAT BACK UP LATE WEEK THROUGH THE WEEKEND, AND RELOAD THE HUMIDITY AS WELL… 8:30AM SUNDAY, 7/12/2020]
Good morning everybody, aside from some clouds over northwest MA and SVT this morning, a southwest flow is opening the cloud deck and will allow for a partly sunny day to develop. It will be humid with dewpoints in the 60s, but not quite as bad as yesterday.
Southwest winds will gust to 25mph and highs will reach the low to mid 80s in the high terrain, and upper 80s to low 90s in the valley areas.
We can’t rule our a spot shower or thunderstorm in the hills and mountains west of the I-91 corridor. Lows tonight will drop into the low to mid 60s.
A shortwave will track east through the region and bring a cold front through on Monday, and this will produce a period of scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong.
It will be mostly cloudy tomorrow, and given that plus weaker lapse rates, it’s hard to see how any storms will reach severe levels, but wind shear will be stronger than in recent days, and I’ve seen these situations “overperform” before, so we shall see.
Highs will reach the low to mid 80s, and it will be humid once again, and showers may persist into the evening. Lows will drop into the low to mid 60s.
Leftover showers during the first half of Tuesday will give way to a period of drying and cooling temps. Highs will only reach the upper 70s to low 80s as humidity starts to decrease during the evening, and lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s, a good sleeping night!
Wednesday is the pick of the week with high pressure from Canada producing mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, and lows near 60 degrees – dry weather, no rain.
Thursday looks gorgeous too, with partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 80s, though clouds should build late in the day as another system approaches from the west.
A period of showers and thunderstorms is expected on Friday and Friday night, and thereafter more hot and humid weather reloads into the region, with highs likely cresting 90 degrees next weekend!
May The Force Be With You…
