Good morning everybody, temps didn’t cool down as much as expected last night, so hopefully that has helped to tamp down the black ice threat a bit this morning, though the Berkshires, western hills and SVT probably have some icy spots out there as the sun crests the horizon once again.
It’s weird to know that when we’re gone from this place, the sun will continue to crest the horizon, and that it did so for an eternity before we arrived on these planetary shores.
Life sure is funny when you think about it.
SUMMARY
–Abundant sunshine is ours through the coming weekend!
–For today, departing low pressure to our northeast and incoming powerful high pressure over the northern Plains will produce a pressure gradient squeeze play, and press out northwesterly wind gusts of 25-40mph today
–The highest gusts will in the high terrain, lower in the valley, as per usual
–We’re already gusting to 30mph in the Berkshires and at Worcester Airport at 1000 feet elevation
–Highs today will reach the low to mid 30s and then drop later this afternoon
–Bundle up folks, as there will be a wind chill effect as well
–Enjoy the mostly sunny skies, is my advice
–For tonight, a few lake effect snow showers may spill into the region, otherwise we’ll be dry with lows in the low to mid teens under partly cloudy skies
–Thursday is cold and sunny with highs in the 20s and lows in the singles
–Friday is cold and sunny with highs in the mid 20s to low 30s and lows in the teens
–Light wind is expected after today
–Our huge lumbering high pressure will track southeast through the week, and position itself to our south, resulting in a return southwesterly flow, just in time for the weekend
–Highs will reach the upper 30s to low 40s on Saturday, and possibly low to mid 40s on Sunday with plenty of sunshine and lows in the 20s
–It’s going to be a great stretch of sunshine-y weather, so enjoy it!
–By next week, we’re watching two storm systems
–The Monday into Tuesday system looks rainy with perhaps some ice in SVT/SWNH
–The Thursday system looks progressive, but has the potential for a moderate-sized snowfall, so stay tuned, as there are some colder signals for end of February into early March
