Good evening everybody, there’ve been worse days than today, and despite some clouds we had a good bit of sun spray too. I am going to put it in the “I’ll take it” column!

Anyway, the night has come, and luckily for us aside from a wind shift by tomorrow morning that could turn conditions a bit blustery, we’re dry as a bone overnight… do watch our for any refreezing of surfaces over which you ambulate… to the Summary!

SUMMARY
–A dry cold front will drop through the region this evening, so while a wind shift is expected, no precipitation will be generated
–For lows tonight, we’ll see low to mid 20s from SVT into the Berkshires, with the mid 20s more in the valley. Clouds will decrease as the front pushes through
–For tomorrow, more sun than clouds is expected in SVT/SWNH and the Berkshires/western hills, but mostly sunny skies are looking likely for the Pioneer Valley down into northern CT into CMass
–Northwest winds behind the cold front may gust up to 20mph or so, but should slacken as the afternoon wears on. Expect highs in the upper 20s to low 30s in SVT & SWNH into the Berkshires/hills, with mid 30s into the valley and lower elevations
–Clouds will increase around/after midnight during the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning, but earlier in the night we should be mostly clear, which with high pressure pressing east into Maine will allow lows temps to drop into the teens region-wide

–If we can get precip in here Tuesday morning as clouds thicken due to our storm moving into NY state, we will see a period of wet accumulating snowfall before a change to rain later in the afternoon
–Generally, north of the Pike could see a slushy coating, with up to 2″ in the Berkshires, western hills and north of Rt. 2 in northern MA and SVT & SWNH
–Please stay updated on my Facebook page for the latest updates
–Tuesday will see highs reach the upper 30s, as high pressure will be diving southeast into Nova Scotia, and turning our flow out of the southeast, which flips any snow/ice to rain
–I don’t think we will see snow/ice arrive before the late morning on Tuesday
–A quarter inch to half inch of total precip is expected by Tuesday night, when lows will drop into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees
–Another cold front swings through early Wednesday with highs in the low to mid 30s under mostly sunny skies. Northwest breezes may blow over 20mph at times
–Lows under mostly clear skies as high pressure builds in from the northwest will drop us down into the upper single digits to mid teens overnight under mostly clear skies
–Thursday and Friday look fair and cold, and we should see milder temps by the weekend as high pressure dives southeast through New England and swings a southerly flow back through our hills and dales.

Good morning everybody, we’ve got temps in the teens and 20s this morning with a couple of flurries whizzing on through the region.

We should get some sunny breaks in here today, but we’ll have periods of cloudiness as well.

Given that low pressure is way north of us, and high pressure is south of us, the combined flows around both of this systems is most assuredly out of the southwest.

This will allow highs to reach the upper 30s to low 40s. That assumes some amount of sunshine, so if that doesn’t materialize it’ll be hard to break 40 degrees.

For tonight, partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected with lows in the mid 20s.

For Monday, another area of high pressure approaches from the northwest, and will produce mostly sunny skies and cooler temps with a northwest wind that may gust 15-20mph in the high terrain.

Highs will reach the low to mid 30s generally, maybe some upper 30s in northern CT up to the Springfield area and points east.

The timing of our incoming storm system which will once again pass to our northwest (clearly I placed my WinterStormMagnet in the wrong position this year!) looks to be slowed down, which will allow for a longer period of mostly clear skies Monday night.

This should allows temps to crash into the upper teens to low 20s, before clouds move in and stop temps from dropping further.

This will set the stage for arrival of rain, ice and snow Tuesday late in the morning.

Generally, anywhere south of Rt. 2 in WMass and CMass should see little to no accumulation, or even any snow or ice for that matter.

Along and north of Rt. 2 we could see a coating to 2″ of snow and ice, and will have to watch high pressure positioned to the northeast. This may produce some prolonged icing.

Regardless, it’s a warm front bringing our snow, ice and rain, so we should change to all rain sometime in the afternoon, and it could rain heavily at times.

Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s with lows near 30, as rain quits at night.

Wednesday through Friday looks mostly sunny, fair and seasonably cold, with a possible mildening the weekend following.
