[3 WINTER STORMS FOR SUNDAY, TUESDAY, AND THURSDAY COULD DEEPEN THE SNOWPACK ACROSS THE REGION, ESPECIALLY SUNDAY AND TUESDAY AS THE THURSDAY SYSTEM LOOKS MILDER… MAINLY A LIGHT SNOW EVENT VERY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY… A BIGGER, JUICIER STORM WILL BE MONITORED FOR TUESDAY… FEBRUARY COLD ROLLS ON, WITH FRIGID TEMPS TONIGHT AND WIND CHILLS BELOW ZERO… A FEW FLURRIES OR SNOW SHOWERS THIS MORNING… 6:50AM THURS]
Good morning! Rise and Shine! Engage! Make it so! Carpe Diem! Other common motivational sayings! I shouldn’t have mainlined coffee this morning!
Hey everybody, hope you slept well, I rate my sleep as a 6.4 out of 10, not too shabby, could’ve been better, but, I’m still respirating, still have a chance at life, so I’m not complaining, at all.
For today, we have some flurries and light snow showers around with a system sliding off to our south, and a few coatings over parts of northern CT are possible.
Otherwise, we’re mostly cloudy for much of the day and dry, with highs in the mid to upper 20s with some breaks of sunshine later in the afternoon.
For tonight, colder air filters into the region, and winds may gust to 15mph or so, though should be mostly light.
Lows are going to drop like a rock, bottoming out in the single digits above and below zero, with potential for wind chills to briefly go to 10 below zero in spots, so bundle up if you’re out late tonight. At least it will be dry.
For Friday, a large dome of high pressure in southern Canada and the northern U.S. will continue to spread southeastward into New England, and will result in a partly sunny day with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s and lows in the single digits.
For Saturday, our pick of the weekend is not looking so hot to trot, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 20s, with thickening clouds late in the day.
At night, lows will dip into the teens and we should have some snow developing after midnight.
Light snow looks to continue through the first half of Sunday as a coastal storm develops off of the Carolina coast and tracks northeast, staying south of The Benchmark, which means a coating to 2″ or 1-3″ type snowfall for us in the WMass region, higher amounts to the south, lower to the north.
Highs on Sunday will reach the upper 20s to low 30s as snow quits by mid afternoon, and lows will drop into the low to mid teens under mostly cloudy skies.
Monday is our calm before the storm, with sunshine and highs in the 20s, with clouds building late in the day.
Tuesday will have the potential for a bigger snowstorm (or winter storm, as icing is possible, depending on track).
The atmosphere is shuffling the macro pattern as the Polar Vortex chunk over Canada and spilling into the center of the country this weekend will be receding north later next week, and this could allow our storm to track more up the coastline, and if it does so just right, we could have a moderate to major snowstorm on our hands for Tuesday, with another storm possible next Thursday.
We continue in our active pattern, so stay tuned for updates, and have a great day, peeps!
