DENSE FOG ADVISORY POSTED FOR SOUTHERN WORCESTER COUNTY AND NORTHEAST CT THIS MORNING… AN ISOLATED SHOWER THIS MORNING AND SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A THUNDERSTORM WEST OF I-91 LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING WILL BOOKEND A PARTLY SUNNY DAY… HUMIDITY RUSHES BACK IN TOMORROW AND WE COULD HAVE A SET UP FOR OVERNIGHT THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING, SOME OF WHICH MAY BE STRONG TO SEVERE… SHOWERS ON THURSDAY GIVES WAY TO A GORGEOUS FRIDAY AND WEEKEND WITH DRIER AND COOLER AIR LAST INTO VERY EARLY NEXT WEEK… (6:55AM TUESDAY 8/6/19)
Good morning everybody, any dense fog in spots this morning will burn off by about 8-9am. The rest of us are seeing mostly clear (quickly turning into mostly sunny) skies with cool temperatures in the 50s and low 60s.
The best chance for morning showers will be to our southeast as a low pressure system tracks northeast off the Mid-Atlantic coast. Still, any of us could see an isolated shower later this morning.
Highs today will generally reach the 80-85 degree mark with light south winds.
A warm front will be approaching tonight, and should kick off some isolated showers and thunderstorms for northwest CT, the Taconics, WMass and SVT later this afternoon and into the evening ahead of the front.
While severe weather is not expected, storms that develop along these incoming warm fronts must be watched. Lows tonight will dip into the mid 60s.
For Wednesday, our warm front will have moved through the region overnight, and very humid air is on the way, with dewpoint temps in the mid 60s to low 70s.
Much of Wednesday should be dry, actually, as we won’t see our disturbances wrap around the southeastern circulation of the upper level trough to our northwest until late in the day. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, but it will feel hotter than today.
However, with ample moisture, plenty of instability, good wind shear, and plenty of lift from said disturbances, we may have a set up for showers, downpours, and thunderstorms to last through the night Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Some storms may become strong to severe, even overnight, with the main threats being localized damaging wind gusts and torrential rain causing localized flash flooding.
There is also a low chance for a tornado given some turning of the wind at low levels, so I will keep an eye on this. Lows will be in the mid 60s again.
For Thursday, the severe weather threat shifts into CMass and EMass, but with a cold front off to our west, we could see our showery weather turn into a more of a widespread rainfall, or at least numerous showers and downpours, with some thunderstorms still rumbling through the region – a regional rumbling if you will!
It will still be very humid on Thursday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s with lows near 60 degrees.
The cold front sweeps our moisture mess out to sea by Friday, and we have a stretch of about 4 mostly sunny, cooler and drier days, lasting through the weekend – nice work Mother Nature!
Highs will be in the 70s and lows will be in the 50s, and I will be showering gratitude upon our local atmosphere endlessly.
Have a great day!
