Western Mass Weather for August 4, 2021

SHOWERS TONIGHT MAINLY EAST OF THE I-91 CORRIDOR, BUT CAN’T RULE OUT A FEW ALONG AND WEST OF THE CT RIVER, OTHERWISE DRY OVER THE MAJORITY OF THE WMASS REGION… GENERALLY CLOUDY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN SUNSHINE RETURNS LATE WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND WITH INCREASING WARMTH AND HUMIDITY… SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY WILL LEAD TO A VERY MUGGY AND POTENTIALLY HOT NEXT WEEK WITH A CHANCE FOR A LOW LEVEL HEAT WAVE POSSIBLY STARTING TUESDAY…7:10am Wed…

Good morning folks, so the clouds are speaking to me this morning, and their being mostly nice, but there’s a couple in there that are unruly and need to learn some manners, which happens! Most of them are telling me to present today’s morning report replete with dashing double–dashes, so I’m gonna heed their advice and comply!

SUMMARY
–Clouds will dominate the next couple of days, with maybe a peek of sun here and there
–We’re exiting the low-humidity section of our Summer, which we know couldn’t last
–Highs today will rise into the low to mid 70s with dry conditions
–Clouds thicken and lower tonight, and we have to watch our coastal storm to see how far back westward showers are hurled
–There’s uncertainty with how close the coastal front will track west but for now, it appears the highest chance for steady rain is well east of the region, but it could brush northeast CT and parts of central MA overnight
–For WMass, some showers are possible east of the I-91 overnight into very early Thursday morning
–I do think that a tenth of an inch of rain or more could creep into eastern Hampden County, northeast CT and CMass and maybe Belchertown or Ware with heavier amounts east
–It’s a low chance but that western rain shield could back further west, here’s hoping it doesn’t
–Timing of any showers would be after sunset and into early Thursday morning, by which time the coastal storm that will dump heavy rain on the Cape/Islands will pull away
–Lows tonight will drop into the 55-60º range
–Thursday will be mostly cloudy again, and kind of the last day for this cooler/drier period we’ve entered
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s with lows near 60º as skies break up, and humidity starts to slowly increase
–By Friday, Summer is back
–Humidity will be up, and highs will be in the low to mid 80s, with some upper 80s possible, and plenty of sunshine
–Lows drop into the low to mid 60s, and then Saturday is another very warm day with highs in the low to mid 80s, muggy, and partial sunshine with lows in the 60s
–A mid-level wave approaches Sunday, and will help trigger some afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms with highs again in the low to mid 80s and lows in the 60s
–Early next week looks sunnier, humid, and very warm with highs in the 80s, and by Tuesday to Thursday we could see some of our southern valley locations hitting the low 90s for a few days in a row
–Thursday should see a cold front move through, and that could trigger a bout of severe thunderstorms with wind and hail, so I will keep you updated on all of that

Summah returns! Have a great day!
