Western Mass Weather for August 31, 2018

(6:20am Fri) HUMIDITY REALIZES IT’S BEEN HAMMERED DRUNK FOR WEEKS AND GOES HOME FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE IT SPRAYS US AGAIN NEXT WEEK WITH ITS SWEATY MALAISE OF MISERY… AT LEAST THE NEXT TWO DAYS WILL BE SUPER SWEET… A SPOT SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM IS POSSIBLE DURING LABOR DAY WEEKEND, BUT WE SHOULD BE MOSTLY DRY FOR THE BULK OF IT…

TODAY’S DATE: Friday, August 31, 2018

TERRESTRIAL:
HIGH AIR TEMPS: Highs should rise into the upper 60s in the Berkshires/Taconics/Litchfields, western hilltowns, SVT/SWNH, and N. Worcester County, while we reach the low 70s for the Pioneer Valley floor down into northern CT and in S. Worcester County.

LOW AIR TEMPS: Lows should bottom out in the upper 50s to low 60s tonight

DEWPOINT TEMPS: DPs will bottom out in the 50s to, at times, low 60s. Comfortable!

SKIES: Partly sunny skies in general, with more clouds than sun more likely over the high terrain

WINDS: Light northerly winds switch to easterly later in the day

NWS ALERTS: None!

CELESTIAL:
–OUR STAR ROSE AT: 6:14am this morning
–OUR STAR WILL SET AT: 7:25pm this evening
–OUR MOON WILL RISE AT: 10:20pm tonight
–OUR MOON WILL SET AT: 12:15pm tomorrow afternoon
–MOON PHASE: Waning Gibbous

SUMMARY:
–The cold front that passed to our south yesterday has ushered in a level of niceness worthy of abundant appreciation
–A spot shower is possible today through Labor Day itself, but we should be mostly dry with varying degrees of cloudiness through the period
–An easterly maritime flow will keep it cooler today and tonight thanks to high pressure to our northeast
–After a sweet day, and a nice night tonight, some patchy fog will be possible late, and very early Saturday morning
–We’ll enjoy one more nice day on Saturday with temps well into the 70s and fairly comfortable humidity levels
–Sunday will start off rather comfortable, but finish fairly muggy
–This is because our Canadian Maritime high pressure system will scoot east, and allows the Bermuda high to flare back up and re-strengthen in the western Atlantic Ocean, turning our flow more southwesterly
–From Sunday night through next Thursday, the heat and humidity builds again
–In fact, as we get closer, we could see highs in the upper 80s to low 90s Monday through Thursday
–As a low tracks east through southern Canada we should see some showers and thunderstorms by the middle of next week as an associated front moves through
–There are some hints of another cool/dry-down by next weekend, but I’m afraid we’ll have another very warm to hot and humid period to contend with next week

Today is a fine day for enjoyment!
