Good morning everybody, we’re starting off today in the mid to upper 60s, and dewpoint temps aren’t that far behind. Please read the summary below for more details:

SUMMARY:
–Most of the rainfall will occur to our west today over PA and NY
–As our upper low digs south toward West Virginia (see attached water vapor still image), surface low pressure will pass northeast off the Jersey coast
–This will help to direct some scattered showers and a few downpours north and north-northwest into our region
–For tonight, the chance for showers will continue and patchy fog will be possible late
–For tomorrow, this whole upper level low system will get picked up by a strong northern jet stream and kicked out to sea by Tuesday night
–Before that, it will be forced to pass east through our region
–This will locate a low level jet streak (i.e. faster river of air about a mile up) over us
–These jet streaks increase what is called “diffluence” or which is air that diverges away at higher altitudes
–As air moves away from an area, it helps to create an upward pull and fosters rising air, which generates showers, downpours and t-storms
–Such a feature will be moving into our region starting tomorrow, when scattered showers will be possible
–Then a better chance for some downpours and/or thunderstorms will increase for the afternoon and evening
–Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid 70s to low 80s, with lows in the mid 60s. Patchy fog will be possible again late
–For Wednesday, we should see some partly sunny skies with a low chance for isolated showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, and highs well into the 80s with humid conditions
–Thursday looks partly to mostly sunny with highs well into the 80s, with a chance for more showers and thunderstorms on Friday

Have a great day!
