SUMMARY:
–After a dry period this morning, more showers and downpours will redevelop by the early/mid afternoon, possibly as early as late morning
–This is all thanks to an upper level low that will approach from the west and swing a shortwave around its base up into our region
–This shortwave will combine with our sneaky snaky frontal boundary along with an easterly flow off the ocean to keep the wet weather rolling, or should I say, falling
–Isolated thunderstorms are possible, but the main impact is downpours with the chance for street flooding and/or small stream flooding
–As you can see from the attached graph, the Mill River at Northampton came way up last night
–This Mill River is going to be the locus of concern today and tonight
–The reason for this is that the easterly flow, when combined with all the other parameters, tends to ring out more moisture over the eastern slopes of the Berkshires, a/k/a the western hilltowns
–It is the rain that falls here that runs east and down into the Pioneer Valley feeding into those rivers, including the Mill River
–So folks along this river should pay attention to levels and conditions today, tonight and tomorrow morning
–In addition, the Millers River at Athol and especially the Hoosic River at Wililamstown are high as well, so folks in those zones should also pay attention
–And remember to turn around if you come across flooded road ways today or tonight or at anytime
–Patchy fog is also expected today, tonight and tomorrow morning as well
–It looks to be mostly cloudy until about mid week when more breaks of sun should work into the region
–Showers, downpours, and thunderstorms can be expected today, tomorrow and Tuesday
–Humidity will stay high, and high temps will reach the mid 70s in the high terrain and upper 70s during this period with lows in the 60s
–I do not see a break in this pattern until at least the weekend, I wish I had better news for you all!
