Western Mass Weather for April 29, 2020

[DRY TODAY, MORNING SUN, AFTERNOON CLOUDS, SCATTERED SHOWERS TOMORROW LEAD TO HEAVY RAIN THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY… SHOWERS POSSIBLE SATURDAY MORNING, THEN DRYING AND WARMING, SOMEONE COULD HIT 70 ON SUNDAY… MORE RAIN ON MONDAY… 6:55AM WED]

Good morning everybody, we’ve got a one more dry day today, after what turned out to be a gorgeous Tuesday!! I hope you got outside and got some fresh air.

For today, we’ll enjoy one more dry day, and some sunshine this morning. However, as the day continues, clouds will build in with time as low pressure starts to spread its outer cloud deck towards the region.

We’ll see highs reach into the 55-60 degree range, and generally light southeast winds are expected.

For tonight, clouds will thicken up, and the high terrain should see southeast winds start to kick up a bit more, gusting 20-30mph at times, but we should remain dry until after midnight.

For Thursday, generally scattered/intermittent showers are expected, as southerly, moist flow continues to work and expand into the region. Southeasterly gusts will be felt at times, and highs will reach into the mid 50s.

It is Thursday night and Friday morning when the real dynamic weather kicks into gear over New England.

A strong southerly low level jet streak is expected to pass over our region, and really enhance lift and possibly help to mix some wind down to the surface as well.

South to southeasterly winds will gust 25-40mph Thursday night when lows will only dip into the low 50s as heavy rain develops across the region, lasting into Friday morning.

Luckily, the system looks to track at a reasonable clip from west to east, so it won’t dump for days, but expect a very wet day on Friday with highs in the low to mid 60s, and lows in the 45-50º range with scattered showers.

We may see some showers linger into Saturday morning, but hopefully we will get some drying and peeks of sunshine in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 60s, and lows in the 40s.

Sunday is THE DAY, and right now it looks mostly sunny with highs 65-70 degrees! Here’s hoping that holds true leading up to the day, we deserve such a lovely Sunday!

It won’t last, though, as clouds should build at night with more showers on Monday.

At least we’re getting warmer, folks. Stay healthy, hydrated, and take some deep breaths when you can. Have a good day…
