Good morning everybody, if you didn’t see my tribute to one of my weather heroes, Barry Burbank, that I posted last night at midnight, read this report, then scroll right below this post to read that as well. He was a true legend, and a very nice person to boot.

As for our weather, I know I’ve seen reports of 2-4″ up in southern VT, and a coating to 1″ in the Berkshires and western hilltowns, but I would love your pics and reports below if you got snow overnight in the high terrain.

For today, we’ve got one last raw one, folks. Some people won’t even get out of the 30s for highs if you live above 1000 feet!

The rest of us should see highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s with north winds gusting to 20-25mph at times.

Mixed showers of rain, sleet or snow today should be generally light and sporadic during the first half of the day. Some drizzle is possible in the lull periods, and some no-precip-cloudy periods are expected, too.

That covers us into the early afternoon, but as the afternoon wears on, we should see precip increase in coverage into the evening and early overnight period, with additional light snow accumulations possible over high terrain areas either side of the CT River.

Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 30s.

After any early morning showers on Tuesday, expect a partly sunny day to develop as high pressure presses in from the east (because, you know, pressure presses on stuff!).

Highs will reach the low to mid 50s and lows will dip into the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies.

Wednesday morning should feature some sunny periods, but clouds will build during the afternoon as a storm digs southeast out of the Great Lakes and slows down to our west. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s as south flow develops between the storm to our west, and high pressure to our east.

We will be in the squeeze play in between, and the combination of a lot of moisture from the southeast U.S. and the upper jet stream and a strong lower level jet streak will all coincide Thursday to bring us heavy rain at times, on the order of 1-3″. Some flooding is possible in southern VT.

Highs will be in the 50s on our rainy Thursday, with lows in the 40s during our rainy Thursday night.

Rain will last into the first half of Friday and then should quit as the day wears on, and our temps should rise into the low 60s.

Expect a generally nice weekend, with Saturday being the pick of the two days, and highs in the 60s both days, so at least we have that to look forward to as we drag ourselves through what feels like an early March day today.

Temps will be over 20 degrees below average today compared to the past few decades. Yikes.

Anyway, I’m still going to go for a walk in it, because, well, I’m a weather nut, and that’s what weather nuts do.
