MOONDAY-8:30PM: FULL PINK MOON IS UP NOW! PICS PLEASE… QUITE COLD TONIGHT, PROTECT VEGETATION…
Good evening everybody, just a quick check-in to say that the Full Pink Moon rose about an hour ago, and I would love to see your pics if you have any!

The moon is also known as a “Supermoon”, meaning it is at perigee, which is its closest pass to the Earth in its slightly elliptical orbit.
As far as temps tonight, it will be dropping to or below freezing, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, with some mid 20s possible up in the southern Greens of VT and high terrain of southwest NH.
Tomorrow is the week’s pick, with lighter wind, warmer temps, and partly to mostly sunny skies.
Thereafter, we’re turning cloudier and showery-er through the end of the week.
Have a great night!

MON-7:00AM: RED FLAG WARNING HOISTED FOR SOUTHWEST NH TODAY… BLUSTERY AT TIMES, SUNNY… CALMER TONIGHT, WARMER TOMORROW… SHOWERS/STORMS POSSIBLE LATE TUESDAY NIGHT WITH WARM FRONTAL PASSAGE… WARMEST WEDNESDAY IN SW PORTIONS OF WMASS DOWN INTO NORTHWEST CT, NEAR 80º POSSIBLE… MORE SHOWERS/STORMS POSSIBLE WED. AFTERNOON/EVENING… UNSETTLED LATE WEEK UNTIL A COLD FRONT SLICES THROUGH FRIDAY… NICER-LOOKING WEEKEND AHEAD…
Good morning everybody, the Cosmos welcomes you to a new day, and does hope you enjoy today’s stay, including the day’s sun rays, as we careen millions of miles away from the point in Space we occupied yesterday.
For today, we’ve got some wind gusts reaching or exceeding 30mph over the Berkshires, whereas the valley and points east have been mainly up to 20mph at times.
With the rising of the Sun, we can expect northwest wind gusts of 25-35mph today, especially this morning.
Gusts will slowly subside as a high pressure cell over the eastern Great Lakes south through the Ohio Valley presses east with time, relaxing the pressure gradient between it and our departing low center from yesterday.
Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s from high terrain to low terrain.
We also have an elevated risk of fire spread today, so don’t chuck your butts out the window, and consider moving any open fires/burns to tomorrow, if you’re able – otherwise be extra vigilant in their containment.
For tonight, winds continue to subside, and it will clear out and become cold.
Lows are expected to reach the upper 20s up in southern VT and southwest NH, and possibly into some of the northern Berkshires and northwestern hilltowns of Franklin and Hampshire Counties. Otherwise, we’ll dip mainly into the low 30s.
For Tuesday, a partly to mostly sunny day is expected with highs in the mid 50s to mid 60s, about 5 degrees cooler than it looked like over the past couple of days leading up to it.
At night, clouds will build as a warm frontal boundary approaches, and lows will dip into the low to mid 40s.
Along the front, some showers or even a thunderstorm or two may form after midnight and into very early Wednesday morning.
The front may have a hard time getting all the way through the WMass region today to the flow direction in the upper levels, which could slow it down a bit.
This means that our northeastern zones (southwest NH, northern Worcester County, eastern Franklin County) may see a different temperature regime Wednesday then our southwestern zones.
Temperature forecast looks tricky as a result, and I think the best chance for getting the super warm air in here (70s to near 80º) will be most likely from about Northampton points south and west, with highs more in the low to mid 60s northeast of there, but I will have to refine as we get closer.
Because this front will be hanging around lazily, aimlessly, lollygagging with lack of intent, direction or motivation, we’ll have a mostly cloudy day and with another shortwave moving along the front, more scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm will work in during the afternoon and evening.
At night, the cloudy skies and showery conditions at times will keep temps up, and they should remain near 50º for overnight lows.
Thursday and Thursday night looks showery as the front lays about and focuses moisture over the region, with highs in the low to mid 60s and lows in the 40s.
A cold front works through the region Friday with highs in the 50s to near 60º, and a better chance of thunderstorms will result on that day to end the week.
The weekend looks brighter, but blustery on Saturday behind the cold front. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s Saturday and upper 50s to low 60s Sunday.
Have a great day!
