Good morning everybody, this time I’m punchy. Little sleep, mind won’t turn off, I think since traffic is minimal these days I’ll go lie in the middle of Downtown Northampton this afternoon, snout skyward, and listen to the cuckoos talk while the people walk as the atmosphere’s love rains down o’er me.
But, you know, who needs to get sick at a time like this, so maybe I’ll keep tabs on the weather and get a cat nap or two in on this dreary day and stay inside instead. Probably a better idea, and I’m grateful to have an inside to stay within.
Remember the Face Yoga, people! I mean what the hell, we’re still here, it’s a crazy world that we’re going to all leave at some point or another, so let’s try to be grateful amidst the challenges and suffering, despite this weather not being very helpful.
Ah, well. Let’s jump into the sordid details, and sort through our detritic prognostication of inclemency.
SUMMARY
–Temps are currently in the 40s, and our storm is centered over southern Ohio and headed for the irregular West Virginian panhandle and southwest PA
–It will extend its warm front towards us, which will create some lift and TRY to squeeze some rain out this morning, and a few showers are certainly possible, especially west of I-91
–Rain showers should arrive in more widespread fashion between very late morning and early afternoon, and increase as the afternoon transitions into the evening
–Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, with an east wind that will pick up and gust 20-30mph at times, highest in the hills
–For tonight, we should see a mix with or transition to snow and/or sleet in the higher terrain of southern VT (mainly above 1000 or 1500 feet), and possibly parts of northwest MA and the Monadnock Region
–Rain will continue for the rest of us, and there is some question for a lull in the precip after midnight, but I will update that this evening
–Lows tonight will range from the low to upper 30s from high terrain to valley terrain, and northeast winds will gust up to 25mph or so in the valley, but 35-40mph in the high terrain. Raw night ahead, folks.
–Snow will accumulate in in higher terrain areas of the Litchfields, Berkshires, Taconics, western hills, southern VT, southwest NH, eastern Franklin County and the northern Worcester County highlands
–By Monday noon, a coating to 2″ should do it for most areas, except peaks over 2000 feet could see more like 2-5″
–Some valley locations could see snow or sleet too, but it shouldn’t really stick much, if at all
–Rain and snow showers continue tomorrow as our storm SLOWLY drifts east to about Nantucket, and basically stalls out
–This will keep cyclonic, stormy flow over our region for Monday, with continued scattered lighter rain and snow showers, with highs in the low to mid 40s
–For Monday night, the storm still lingers, with more scattered mixed showers and lows in the 30s
–By Tuesday morning, the storm will FINALLY get the hell out of here, and despite some morning showers, we should get at least a partly sunny afternoon after a cloudy morning. Highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s with lows near freezing
–On Wednesday, any early morning sunshine goes away as clouds increase yet again
–At least highs will be well into the 50s!
–Rain arrives late Wednesday night and Thursday and Thursday night look quite rainy, with showers possible on Friday with highs in the 50s through the last half of the week
–Next Saturday could be a repeat of yesterday’s Saturday, here’s hoping!
Ok, my friends, carry on, make it so, engage, cook soup, bake pies and bread, improve your culinary skills, plant a garden, raise your eyebrows, smile, and be nice to people. Or, at least try to come back to those things after you frump around on the couch in your sweats, disengage, order out, frown, cry, and grumble-mumble, which if you hadn’t guessed, is a rather Debbie-Downer form of mumbling to oneself.
