Western Mass Weather for April 20, 2019

AT 9AM MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN IS TRACKING NNE OUT OF CONNECTICUT AND INTO THE REGION LASTING INTO THE AFTERNOON…. FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR THE ENTIRE REGION TODAY, WITH A FLASH FLOOD WATCH POSTED FOR THE TACONICS OF EASTERN NY… (8:55am Saturday)

Good morning everybody, heavy rain is about to move into the region, which will likely be the heaviest pulse of rain we see throughout this event, barring another round on Monday.

It’s very mild outside with temps in the 60s with a few upper 50s in spots.

Temps won’t really change a whole lot in this humid, moist, tropical air mass, but we can expect highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

While a few isolated thunderstorms are possible, I think it’s mainly downpours we will be contending with today.

Street flooding will be possible, and where the heaviest rain falls and “trains” (which means the heaviest cells track over one area for a period of hours), some flash flooding is possible.

To that effect, most of us will see 3/4s to 1.5″ or 2″ of rain today, but a narrow stripe may get 2-3+” of rainfall where any training occurs.

Currently, that looks to be over north-central CT in Hartford and Tolland Counties, up into central and eastern Hampden and eastern Hampshire County into CMass. We will see how it plays out.

The heaviest rain should pass by dinner time today, but more scattered showers are possible tonight as well as tomorrow during the first half of the day.

HIghs on Sunday will be in the mid 60s with lows in the upper 40s. The day is not expected to be a wash out like today.

Alright everybody, try to stay dry today, but the sky water is incoming.

Giddyup…
