[SHOWERS ARRIVE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON, OVERNIGHT, AND THROUGH FRIDAY] RAW WEATHER DOMINATES FOR THE COUPLE OF DAYS, AND DESPITE CLOUDS PERSISTING THROUGH THE WEEKEND, TEMPS START TO RISE ON SUNDAY AND INTO NEXT WEEK SO *SOME* IMPROVEMENT IS ON THE WAY… 7:25am Thursday]
Good morning folks, I hope you slept well. I did not, though I did have an interesting dream where I was counseling somebody on eating more vegetables, and giving them various suggestions on how prepare and consume more carrots, so what the hell, I will make the same suggestion to you. Get some more carrots into your life!
Moving on, we’re starting off in the 30s today, and there are plenty of clouds around. There might be a few sunny breaks over the Taconics of eastern NY, or maybe the Berkshires or Litchfields (west of the I-91 corridor, let’s say).
Clouds will continue to back in from east to west as our powerful ocean storm gets bounced north, northwest, and then west through tomorrow morning before looping south and away to the east, thanks to blocking high pressure.
Highs today will reach the mid to upper 40s, with some low 40s up in southern VT and parts of the Berkshires and western hilltowns.
Northerly to northwesterly winds will gust up to 30mph at times, and despite some morning to mid afternoon isolated showers (maybe mixed with snow in southwest NH or southern VT), the main area of more widespread showers from our retrograding storm doesn’t arrive into southwest NH and Worcester County until early to mid afternoon, and then central and eastern portions of WMass, northern CT, and southeastern VT mid to late afternoon, and then the Litchfields, Berkshires, Taconics, western hilltowns, and southwest VT late afternoon into the evening.
Showers continue tonight with lows in the upper 30s. Raw. North winds will continue to gust 20-30mph.
For Friday, highs will reach the upper 40s as our low makes its closest pass about 75-100 miles southeast of Nantucket Island. North winds will continue to gust 20-30mph, and showers may break up by afternoon, and/or start to consolidate east of I-91, especially in Worcester County and northeast CT (Tolland and Windham Counties).
Lows Friday night will dip into the upper 30s with a few showers possible.
For Saturday, while some sunny breaks are expected, plan on more clouds than sunshine, with highs in the low 50s. Lows will be in the upper 30s.
On Sunday, a few showers are possible as a weak system swings through, but temps should start come up deeper into the 50s for highs, with lows near 40 degrees.
Monday looks like the pick of next week with mostly sunny skies and highs either side of 60 degrees!
However more showers are expected into mid-week as a couple of fast moving weaker systems cross the region on the way out to sea.
Stay healthy, raise your eyebrows, and smile. Yes, it may be a fake smile, or it may be a real smile, it doesn’t matter. Smiling sends signals through your nervous system to your brain, telling it that things are ok and good. It’s not woo woo, it’s neuroscience, folks. Then find something funny to watch, and laugh. Stay home if at all possible, and take the proper precautions if you’re out and about. We’re in a longer term Germ Storm, and we all must weather it together.
Be well, Dave
