Good morning everybody, it’s chilly out there this morning, but could have been even colder if clouds had not worked in overnight.
I will list our upcoming salient weather points out for you in my tried and true double-dashes fashion, because if there was ever an archetype of fashion that, of course, would be me #NOT.
SUMMARY
–As an upper trough dominates the northeast U.S. over the next several days, it will be fostering the transmission of a few weak waves into our region through Friday
–For today, the first one is moisture-starved and lift-starved, so expect mostly cloudy skies with highs somewhere in the middle 30s
–A passing snow shower in the high terrain west of the CT River cannot be ruled out
–Lows tonight will drop into the mid 20s, with refreezing of any snow melt, which will be minimal today
–Clouds start to dissipate Thursday, with partly sunny skies expected and highs in the low 30s in the high terrain, and mid to upper 30s in valley locations down into northern CT
–Lows will bottom out in the upper teens to low 20s
–For Friday, we have to watch our incoming Alberta Clipper and its specific track
–If it tracks over us or to our north, we will just see some scattered snow showers, but if it digs a bit more (“digging” usually refers to a system pressing more to the south or southeast in the northern Hemisphere), and passes to our south, then we could see a light snowfall with maybe a coating to an inch or so
–Snow onset would be sometime around noon and end sometime around sunset or a bit thereafter (i.e. 5pm-ish)
–A snow squall will be possible as colder air comes whooshing into the region Friday night
–Highs Friday will be in the low 30s, with lows in the low to mid teens for a very chilly night!
–The weekend looks great!
–Saturday is mostly sunny with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens
–Sunday is mostly sunny with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s, with clouds increasing at night
–A storm system will race to the northeast into southeastern Canada on Monday
–This will be a track that takes the storm to our northwest, allowing a strong milder, southwesterly flow to pour into southern New England Monday and Tuesday
–We do have to watch for some snow or ice late Sunday night into early Monday morning before we change to periods of rain showers Monday through Tuesday with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s
–It will be gusty out of the southwest early next week as well, and over an inch of rain is possible
–By mid-week, we should clear out and cool down once again
