[BLACK ICE FOR PARTS OF BERKSHIRES, TACONICS, SVT, SW.NH, & N. LITCHFIELD COUNTY] MANY OF US ARE ABOVE FREEZING, BUT FOR FOLKS WHO DIPPED INTO THE LOW 30S, INCLUDING SOME WESTERN HILLTOWNERS, WATCH FOR BLACK ICE THIS MORNING… FAIR WEATHER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS FOR MONTE’S MARCH X FOR A MILLION MEALS (CALL 1-888-323-HOPE) … SHOWERY WEDNESDAY, BLUSTERY AND COLDER THANKSGIVING DAY, BUT DRIER… ANOTHER STORM POTENTIAL FOR SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY, THEN COLDER TEMPS ARRIVE FOR DECEMBER (6:45AM MONDAY)
Good morning everybody, luckily many of us over night have stayed above freezing with westerly flow behind the departing storm system.
Still, the aforementioned areas are reporting patches of black ice, so be alert out there if traveling in those areas early this morning.
There will be some peeks of sunshine, but the Berkshires and hilly areas west of the CT River will likely see more clouds than sun, with more partly sunny skies for the valley and points eastward and southward. It will be dry.
Highs today will reach the low to mid 40s, with upper 40s possible south and east of Northampton, MA.
For tonight, lows will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s under mostly cloudy skies with some patchy fog possible late.
For Tuesday, high pressure more firmly takes residence for a day, and brings us mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, and lows near freezing at night.
For Wednesday, showers are expected, especially in the afternoon and evening, with highs in the mid to upper 40s.
Southwest winds may gust over 20mph or so during the day. A cold rain is expected at night with lows in the mid to upper 30s, so travel plans for Thanksgiving will be impacted with wet roadways and breezy conditions at times.
This is all thanks to a storm (Thanks, Storm!) which will tracking east through the Great Lakes and northern NY into northern New England. The showers on Wednesday are due to a warm frontal passage associated with that storm.
The strong northwest winds on Thanksgiving Day, which may gust 30-50mph at times will be due to the cold frontal passage from said storm that will sweep the region early Thursday morning.
Highs will reach the upper 30s to mid 40s from high terrain to low on Thanksgiving Day, and while partly sunny skies are expected for valley locations, a few wraparound snow and rain showers are possible for the Berkshires, Taconics, western hilltowns and southern VT.
Lows will drop into the low to mid 20s Thanksgiving night, so bundle up if traveling!
Friday and Saturday look like fair weather right now, but colder with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.
We then have to watch another storm ejecting east-northeast out of the southern Plains states, which may bring another potpourri of wintry weather to kick off the month of December, which marks the start of Meteorological Winter.
MONTE’S MARCH FOR A MILLION MEALS
Have a great day, and please donate to Monte’s March today by calling 1-888-323-HOPE.
He has set off from Springfield on foot with his entourage, with a goal of raising $333,333.33 which the Western Mass Food Bank can turn into a million meals – enough to feed those in need within all of Franklin County for a year, as an example.
We’re all one bad decision or stroke of misfortune away from needing the services of the Food Bank, so help your neighbors, as one day, they could be helping you and yours.
I donate every year, and hope you’ll join me in donating again this year to this important community effort. Thank you <3
