Western Mass Weather 5/31/19 evening update

STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE IN A SQUALL LINE SUNDAY EVENING AND EARLY SUNDAY NIGHT… SOME ISOLATED LIGHT SHOWERS POSSIBLE WEST OF THE I-91 CORRIDOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING, MOST STAY DRY… (9pm Friday)

Good evening everybody, tonight will be mostly clear with lows in the mid to upper 40s in the higher terrain, including the western hilltowns, SVT, Berkshires, southwest NH, with some low 50s in valley locations down into northern CT. Good sleeping weather!

For tomorrow, we will see clouds increase over the Taconics, Berkshires, southern Greens, Litchfields and western hilltowns after some sunny periods in the morning, where as the valley and points south and east will see more sunshine before clouds build in the afternoon ahead of a disturbance tracking east out of the Great Lakes.

Showers from this system should weaken and dry up as they enter WMass, but a few lighter showers can’t be ruled out in the afternoon and especially the evening with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s high terrain to low.

A few showers and patchy fog will be possible Saturday night with lows in the mid 50s.

Sunday is the potential day for strong thundershowers. A strong cold front will be racing east and out ahead of a digging trough that will bring cooler and breezy weather for Monday.

If enough sunshine can form during the afternoon/day, we could see a strong squall line form and pass through the region between 5-8pm.

Damaging straight line winds could be part of the mix, so I will keep you updated this weekend on this potential. Highs will be in the 70s.

Monday looks partly sunny with highs only in the 60s, with more sunshine for Tuesday.

Have a great night!
