PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING FROM PITTSFIELD NORTH IN BERKSHIRE COUNTY AND POTENTIALLY OTHER SPOTS… ALL IN ALL, A GREAT, SUMMERY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND LIES AHEAD… SOME SHOWERS AND MAYBE A THUNDERSTORM DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS TONIGHT, OTHERWISE PARTLY TO MOSTLY SUNNY AND WARM… SHOWERS BACK INTO THE PICTURE BY TUESDAY…. (5:20am Saturday)
Good morning everybody, we’ve generally got a sweet three days ahead, with a minor amount of rain tonight, somewhere around a quarter inch, less for some, and a little more if you get under a non-severe thunderstorm that might form overnight.
SUMMARY
–We’re starting off with temps in the low to mid 40s, but there are a couple of upper 30s in the western high terrain, too, so a bit chilly!
–Some patchy dense fog has formed at Pittsfield and North Adams, and other river valleys in the high terrain, with patches possible along the CT River
–This will all burn off as the morning wears on and reveal a nice, dry, mostly sunny day with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s
–Clouds will build back in during the afternoon in advance of our southeast-diving disturbance for tonight
–Showers could arrive in SVT as early as around dinner time, but generally for the rest of us, they will get in here between 9-11pm and continue during the pre-dawn hours, quitting by early morning
–No more than a quarter-inch is expected, and some will see around a tenth of an inch. If a thunderstorm or two does develop, a few spots could see up to half an inch or so, but this would be the high outlier
–Gusty southwest winds reaching speeds of 20-30mph are possible as this system moves through tonight
–For tomorrow, drier air will work in from the west, and west winds should gust 20-30mph or so, especially by afternoon
–Highs will be very warm reaching the upper 70s to mid 80s! The CT Valley may even see some 87 or 88 degree readings!
–Humidity will increase as well, with dewpoints rising into the low to mid 60s, and a spot shower or non-severe thunderstorms is possible in the afternoon instability
–However, with lots of dry air a couple of miles up expected, activity should be isolated
–Lows should dip into the low to mid 50s Sunday night
–Memorial Monday looks beautiful with drier conditions, sunny skies, and highs in the 70s, with lows either side of 50 degrees
–The Tuesday into Thursday period carries more chances for showers and thunderstorms as a storm passes to our north and lays a frontal boundary through the region that may linger for a bit
–We will be in the warm sector of the storm, so for now expect scattered showers and a few thunderstorms with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 70s with lows in the 50s
–Drying should occur by next Friday and will hopefully last into next weekend
Have a great day!
