Good morning everybody, the coldest air of the season so far arrives early tomorrow morning as we drop lows temps into the upper 20s to mid 30s! We will rebound the temps into mainly the 60s for highs and 40s for lows next Tuesday onward, but this weekend is a quick-hitting cold snap during the mornings to be sure.
There’s lots to talk about, so let’s jump into a summary, outlined by my beloved double dashes.
SUMMARY
–Early morning fog dissipates with time, revealing a mostly sunny day, maybe a few clouds in the high terrain
–Highs today will range from the low 50s in the high terrain to the upper 50s in the valley. Low humidity.
–Intensifying low pressure east of Nantucket and strong high pressure centered over the northern Great Lakes and tracking east will increase the surface pressure gradient over the WMass region
–This will generate northerly winds that gust 25-35mph as the day wears on, and some 40mph gusts could show up in the highest terrain and road passes in the mountains
–For some of us it will feel like it’s in the 40s in the stronger wind gusts today
–For tonight, high pressure quickly moves into the region, and calm the winds down
–With calm winds and clear skies, and high pressure moving over us, temps will drop like a rock
–Expect lows in the upper 20s to low 30s in the Berkshires, Taconics, southern VT, southwest NH and the western hilltowns (and really anywhere generally above 1000 feet in elevation), with low to mid 30s elsewhere, even into northern CT, where some upper 30s are possible
–This means the growing season is coming to an end where we get a hard freeze, and frost could occur anywhere in the region. Please refer to the attached NWS graphic for the counties under Freeze Warnings or Frost Advisories
–After a very cold start tomorrow morning, we rebound to a sunny, calm, beautiful Autumn day with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows in the mid to upper 30s
–Sunday is our transition, as high pressure moves east of us, creating a return milder southwesterly flow with gusts of 20-25mph during the day, and more clouds than sun
–Highs will be well into the 60s, milder, nice
–Showers arrive late in the day, and especially Sunday night as low pressure approaches from the west
–Lows will be in the 50s Sunday night with increasingly humid and milder air flow
–Showers increase Sunday night into and likely through Monday, with some downpours possible
–Given a strong low level jet streak moving over the region, lift will be enhanced, so we could get a good soaking rainfall. Here’s hoping because we could use it
–Very mild on Monday with highs in the 65-70 degree range, and lows in the 40s as a cold front moves through the region
–Tuesday through Thursday looks very nice, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 60s and lows in the 40s
Have a great day!
