WEATHER SUMMARY
–Good morning folks, clouds are increasing over our region today with some sunny breaks possible the further north you go
–Low pressure over the Ohio Valley will track east overnight and interact with drier air from the north and northeast to produce a fairly tight precipitation gradient at the surface near the CT/MA line for this evening and Saturday
–For much of today, we’re dry with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s
–Showers arrive along/south of the Pike by late afternoon to early evening as our storm tracks east, staying to our south
–Lows tonight will drop into the upper 30s to mid 40s as showers continue to build through much of CT and southernmost parts of WMass into CMass
–For Saturday, low pressure will track south of us, while strong high pressure resides north of us, which will create a pressure gradient over the region, as well as onshore easterly flow
–This will produce easterly wind gusts of 20-30mph, along with a very cool, cloudy, and for some, showery set of conditions across the region with highs only reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s!
–Therefore, Saturday will be a raw day for early May standards, especially south of the Pike in CT, where rain will last into mid to late afternoon at least
–Lows will drop into the mid to upper 30s as wood stoves fire light up across the region
–For Sunday, while there is a chance for some early morning showers, but we should be trending drier and enjoy a partly sunny day with highs in the mid to upper 50s with continued breezy conditions
–Lows will again drop into the mid to upper 30s, so a chilly weekend lies ahead!
–By Monday, that low pressure system which will be slowing and stalling to our south and is then expected to drop south along the east coast (a strange track, for sure) and thus will start to lose its influence on our weather
–This should lead to mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 60s on Monday and mid to upper 60s by Tuesday with lows in the 40s both nights
–By mid week, the thinking is that high pressure will be strengthening over Bermuda, and suppressing that low even further south and away, which would set up a southwest flow into the WMass region
–This would allow temps to crest 70º by Wednesday and crest 80º by Thursday and Friday, so stay tuned as a big warm up is still quite possible for late next week!
I hope you have a great day, and that good things happen for you!
