[5:20pm ALERT] TWO PERIODS OF SHOWERS, DOWNPOURS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED… Good afternoon everybody, I just wanted to pop on here and update you about some incoming impactful weather for this evening, especially in WMass, northwest and north-central CT, SVT and SWNH (a bit less impact in CMass and northeast CT this evening).
We have a warm frontal boundary nosing northeast into southwest New England, and accompanying it are some scattered showers and thunderstorms already pushing into western Litchfield County, the southern Taconics and the southern Berkshires before 6pm.
These scattered cells are ahead of the main batch of stronger showers and thunderstorms that have entered Westchester County in southeast NY and barreling north-northeast toward northwest CT and the WMass region.
Some of these storms could produce wind gusts up to or exceeding 50mph, small hail, and torrential rainfall, with street flooding possible in a few spots.
These showers/storms should be out of the area by 9pm or 10pm, but another batch may move in after midnight and last until about dawn in intermittent fashion.
Bring an umbrella with you if you are heading out tonight, and keep an eye/ear to your south-southwest, the direction from which our weather impacts are emanating this evening and overnight.
Have a good evening…

[FRI-7:05AM] TWO PRIMARY PULSES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH ONE THIS EVENING, AND THE SECOND TOMORROW AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY EVENING… THEN SUNDAY AND MONDAY LOOK SUNNY AND WARMER… HOT BY TUESDAY, AND POSSIBLY INTO WEDNESDAY WITH A COLD FRONT NEARBY, WHICH MAY COOL US DOWN…
TODAY’S DATE: Friday, May 27, 2022

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, since yesterday morning’s double–dash proliferation event went so swimmingly, let’s do it again!
–We’ve got very mild temps this morning, along with humid conditions, and patchy fog especially to the south and east in CT and southern parts of CMass, with dense fog at Worcester, MA
–We’ll see filtered sunshine at times today, but overall it will be mostly cloudy, humid, and we could see a spot shower amidst a mostly dry day
–Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, and southerly wind gusts may reach up to 25mph at times ahead of the warm front that moves through overnight
–By this evening around dinner time, an area of showers and thunderstorms associated with our incoming warm front will track northeast into the region, reaching the southern Berkshires and northwest CT by 7pm-ish give or take, and then spread northeast
–We can’t rule out a strong thunderstorm given the ample wind shear that will be accompanying these cells
–Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight and into the early morning hours of Saturday, with lows in the low to mid 60s
–For Saturday, the warm front will have tracked northeast through the region which should put us into a lull after that early morning period, lasting until about early to mid afternoon
–Highs will reach the low to mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies, but if we get some better sunny breaks, afternoon thunderstorms could feed off of more surface instability to become strong to severe
–Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be moving into the region ahead of an incoming cold front that passes through Saturday night, lasting into Saturday evening
–As it so happens, “cold” fronts this time of year tend to be more humidity reducers than temperature decreasers, which will be the case with this one
–As such, Sunday looks warm with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, but with lowered humidity with plenty of sunshine!
–Lows will be in the 50s Sunday night
–Memorial Monday will be even warmer as the temperature trend will be most assuredly going UP
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s, and humidity will be increasing as well. Lows will be in the mid 60s.
–For Tuesday, we’re going to get even warmer with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s under mostly sunny skies as high pressure sets up south of us and pumps southwesterly flow into the region
–The Wednesday timeframe is the trickiest, as it’s uncertain whether or not a backdoor cold front will win out over the influence of high pressure to the south or vice versa
–For now expect highs in the low to mid 80s until further notice, and showers may move back into the region by Thursday
–We need the rain because we’ve entered drought conditions in southern CMass and northeast CT, which may spread west if we don’t get some decent rains in here soon
