UPDATE: A SHOWERY THURSDAY MORNING WILL GIVE WAY TO LESS SHOWERS AND DRYING BY EARLY TO MID AFTERNOON… TOMORROW WILL BE COOL, BUT FRIDAY WILL BE WARM, AND THE WEEKEND WILL BE HOT, HUMID, AND MOSTLY SUNNY… SUMMAH TASTE ON THE WAY… 7:05pm Wednesday…
Good evening everybody, I hope you had a good day today, the weather certainly cooperated, especially in the afternoon.
Now clouds are moving into the region ahead of a storm system centered near northern Indiana and tracking east, spreading clouds and rain our way.
For tonight, the cloud deck will thicken with very dry air at the surface. Lows will bottom out into the mid to upper 40s and any light west or northwest winds will become calm as a brief ridge of high pressure floats through the region.
Showers will cross into the greater WMass region well after midnight, but may evaporate at first, likely reaching the ground by sunrise or so (between 4-7am).
Rain showers or periods of rain will last through the morning, and then break up into more scattered showers by late morning or early afternoon.
We can’t rule out a shower in the mid to late afternoon, but most of the rain will have fallen by early afternoon.
The system is a light affair, and it looks like a bit less rain is expected now, anywhere between a tenth to four tenths of an inch, lower range to the north (Rt. 2 corridor on north), higher range south (south of the MassPike) where the best elements will combine to produce steadier and heavier rains, especially in CT.
Highs tomorrow will only reach the upper 50s to low 60s, so you’ll need to bundle a touch when heading out the door in the morning, if the out the door is where you’re heading.
Showers quit by evening completely, and lows will drop into the upper 40s to low 50s as skies become partly cloudy.
Behind the storm, southerly flow develops Friday, as strong high pressure blooms east of the Carolinas, and sets us up for a truly summery weekend.
Highs on Friday should reach the upper 70s to mid 80s, and that would be quite warm for this time of year, for sure.
But that will be just a taste, as we’re set to soar into the upper 80s to mid 90s both days (which could break some records) under mostly sunny skies with higher humidity, and there’s a low chance we could even hit the upper 90s in the southern valley (Springfield/Hartford), in which case Heat Advisories may need to be issued by the National Weather Service.
Lows Saturday night will create lousy sleeping conditions, only setting down into the upper 60s, but even though Sunday will start off mostly sunny, clouds will build later in the day ahead of a cold front, which should bring showers and thunderstorms toward sunset or perhaps after sunset, cooling us into the 50s for lows by early Monday morning.
Nicer more seasonable weather arrives Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 60s and 70s with fair weather, and more showers possible by Wednesday and Thursday.
Have a great evening…

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning folks, today is going to be a perfect later-Spring day, so since it’s the only day we mostly know for sure that we’ll all live through (tomorrow never knows, as Ringo said), let’s try to find at least one 5-minute period (if you can) to shut everything out of our brains and DEEEEEEPLY appreciate it, soak it, relish in it, roll around in it, perhaps if you’re agile enough do a somersault in it, make grass angels in it (check for ticks after), especially during the afternoon for those who have wind issues (CBD could help).
Did I say today’s going to be really nice? ;-)
Highs under sunny skies, not to my surprise, will reach the mid 60s to low 70s and dewpoint temps will be crashing from the 40s into the 20s, as a sliver of bone dry air will establish itself prior a moisture surge tomorrow.
For tonight, lows will drop into the mid 40s to low 50s as clouds increase ahead of our next system that will work east through New England, spreading light to moderate rainfall into the greater WMass region before dawn tomorrow morning.
Thursday looks rainy in the morning for sure, and showers should continue into the afternoon before tapering off from west to east during the mid to late afternoon.
Highs will reach the low to mid 60s with a light southerly wind.
It appears that we could get anywhere from two-tenths of an inch to up to half an inch of rainfall before Thursday night, so it’ll be a decent drink, and will be most welcome given recent dry conditions.
Lows will sit down to either side of 50º under mostly cloudy skies that should break up toward dawn.
For Friday, and with our storm exited to the east, high pressure will build to our south, and start tapping some of the hot and humid air located in the southern part of the U.S., and will then drive that air northeast into New England for the weekend,
Friday will be beautiful, with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s under mostly sunny skies with increasing humidity. Lows will dip into the low 60s.
Some folks with low or zero heat-and-humidity tolerances and/or medical conditions that are exacerbated by heat and humidity may want to load the ACs into their windows on Friday morning, as we’re going to heat up into the 80s and 90s this weekend, along with dewpoints rising well into the 60s, with some Heat Indices cresting the 95º mark by Sunday (the Heat Index refers to the combo of air temps and dew point temps, which references a “feels-like” or “apparent” temperature, and seeks to highlight when human bodies can begin to struggle with cooling down effectively).
Other folks with more tolerance may want to wait to load the ACs, because after this weekend, next week is going to be quite seasonable temperature-wise.
Getting back to our weekend’s weather impacts, highs on Saturday look to soar into the upper 80s to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies with humid conditions, and with lows only in the mid to upper 60s.
The timing of a cold front Sunday late afternoon and night will help dictate how much we heat up on will thicken over the region.
For now, assuming clouds build in sooner, highs will reach the mid 80s to low 90s, but those temps could go up.
In addition, the timing of the incoming cold front, as well as the intensity of showers or thunderstorms is also uncertain at this time, so stay tuned for updates. Lows look to settle down into the upper 40s behind the frontal passage overnight.
Early next week looks really sweet, with fair weather, mostly sunny skies, and highs in the low to mid 70s as the humidity gets swept seaward by the front and we dry out.
Have a great day!
