Western Mass Regional Weather for July 9, 2022

DAVE HAYES THE WEATHER NUT’S PERFECT WEEKEND ARRIVES… I WORKED HARD TO PRODUCE IT FOR YOU…. I ACCEPT GIFTS SUCH AS FRESH PESTO OR TOMATO SAUCE (I’M EASY)… 7:45am Sat…

Good morning everybody, speaking of pesto I just made 3 pints of it the other day, and while it’s a fairly messy and time consuming operation, man oh man, was it worth it!! So good!! Although I would probably offend purists with my use of walnuts vs. pine nuts, I stand by my choices!

Anyway, as for our weather, this weekend is about as perfect as you’ll ever see in July, and I truly mean that. We have a big dome of Canadian high pressure near and north and northeast of the Great Lakes sliding southeast into the New England, so thank it as it floats by overhead!

Mostly sunny skies, very low dew points and low humidity, lighter winds, highs upper 70s to low 80s, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s tonight (!!!), and low to mid 50s Sunday night with mostly clear skies, it’s heaven on Earth, people, so get out there and soak it up!

Changes are coming next week, to more humid and warmer conditions – you have been notified and given the appropriate memoranda.

We start with an increase in heat on Monday, but not humidity (that arrives on Tuesday into Wednesday).

Highs will reach well into the 80s under mostly sunny skies as high pressure passes south of our region, and turns our flow southerly. Winds will kick up too and gust over 20mph at times as warmer advects into the region.

Humidity will creep up overnight, and lows in the low to mid 60s under mostly clear skies.

That’s your hay-making trifecta, hay makers. Go forth, and produce, because after that, things turn on unsettled Tuesday and Wednesday.

By Tuesday, a trough will be building in toward the Great Lakes, and turn our flow even stronger from the south, which will drive more heat and humidity into the region, with highs reaching the mid 80s to low 90s along with producing dewpoint temps well into the 60s on breezy southwest winds.

This will help set the stage for some scattered showers and thunderstorms by Tuesday afternoon and evening, possibly lasting into Wednesday.

The Wednesday to Friday period should feature more seasonable highs in the low to mid 80s with lows in the 50s to low 60s. Humidity should tamp down a bit too, but we’ll have to see how Wednesday’s frontal passage transpires with the eventual position of the front, as well as if any waves develop along it which could affect our late-week weather.

So, it’s not like any heat waves or severe weather is blasting and lasting into the region, but we’re starting to see a slow pattern shift that has stronger signals for late month of flipping to more heat, humidity, and showery/convective weather.

However, that’s weeks away, and things change, as we all know, so stay tuned for updates as we move through the month.

Have a great day, and if you could help me out below, I’d be super appreciative.
