DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, we have a cloudy day ahead with a few spot sprinkles or light showers from time to time, with mostly dry conditions into the early to mid afternoon.

Thereafter, a cold front will be slowly approaching our region, and with it a low pressure system will ride along that boundary and track through southeast MA and into the Gulf of Maine by tomorrow.

Highs today will hang out in the mid to upper 50s for most of us.

By mid to late afternoon, light southwest flow will continue to push moister air into the region, and by this time, showers should become more numerous as the low gains proximity to our region, with showers lasting through the evening and into the pre-dawn hours.

These more numerous showers may possibly turn into a period of steady, stratiform light to at times moderate rainfall overnight, with rain totals ending up either side of a quarter inch by noon Wednesday, with lows tonight in the upper 30s to low 40s.

For tomorrow, our upper low presses in closer to northwestern New England, spreading cooler air aloft, which will help mix some wind gusts down to the surface.

In fact, northwest winds are expected to gust 20-30mph as tonight’s low pressure system settles and slows down in the Gulf of Maine and western Nova Scotia region, which will steepen the pressure gradient around these pahts, ayup.

As mentioned, the colder air aloft will steepen the vertical thermal gradient, and also allow for clouds and a few showers to develop by afternoon/evening, set within a partly sunny day overall.

Highs will only reach the upper 40s to mid 50s which is substantially below average for late April (the average is around the low 60s).

Lastly, we can’t rule out a few upslope snow showers in far northwest MA and southern VT Wednesday early evening, with lows then plunging down into the upper 20s to mid 30s, so protect yer tender vegetationals for Wednesday night!

Thursday represents the core of coolness, with highs only in the mid 40s to low 50s under mostly sunny skies with continued blustery conditions (with northwest gusts up to 30mph at times), given that our Nova Scotian low will just be sitting and spinning, keeping the pressure gradient in place over New England.

Lows will drop into the low to mid 30s, with highs on Friday again only in the upper 40s to low 50s under mostly sunny skies.

There’s a chance for a period of cloudiness sometime around later Friday into Saturday if a shortwave rotates around our nearby upper low, but that would probably be for areas of central MA and not affect our entire region sky-cover-wise.

As of now, fair weather is expected with mostly sunny skies through Sunday with highs Saturday in the 50s and then cresting into the low 60s by Sunday.

Even Monday looks partly sunny with highs in the low 60s before our next rain chance, which is on Tuesday.

Despite our showery period late this afternoon and tonight, we have lots of fair weather on the way, folks, even if it will be cooler than average with some wind.

Have a great day!
