PERFECT EARLY SPRING DAY TODAY… A FEW SHOWERS TONIGHT… PARTLY SUNNY TOMORROW AND COOLER… CLOUDIER MONDAY, SHOWERY LATER TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY… LIFE CONTINUES TO CIRCULATE… 8:00am Sat
Good morning everybody, it’s chilly this morning but temps will rebound nicely today, given a giant high pressure cell that has spread southward into New England.
It looks like we are sitting pretty in the weather department today with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s with less wind than previous days.
Clouds should increase later today and this evening as a back door cold front slides southwest toward our region, and a few showers can’t be ruled out tonight either side of sunset.
Speaking of sun, we’re heading towards 14 hours of sunlight each day!
After some clouds and a few showers tonight, lows will drop into the upper 30s to low 40s as we dry out.
For Sunday, more clouds will be around, but we’ll have sunny breaks at times. Behind the front (the front will be located to the WEST of us, hence the “back door” moniker), highs will only rise into the 50s with lows in the 40s as clouds continue to increase.
By Monday, a mostly cloudy day is expected and as that formerly back door cold front starts pushing back east towards us, two things will happen.
First, temps will warm into the low 60s despite all the cloudiness around, and second, low pressure will start to develop along a southerly portion of it down over the Virginias.
As lows bottom out in the mid 40s Monday night, showers will develop to our west and southwest and start to push into the region by Tuesday morning.
Said low pressure will likely ride north along the frontal boundary Tuesday and Wednesday bringing a period of rainfall through the region, though timing is not set in stone so check back with updates to onset and exit of the brunt of any showers or rain associated with this system.
As we move into this wet weather Tuesday and Wednesday, an upper level system will be slowly tracking east into the Northeast U.S. and with blocking features to our northeast, our surface low looks to lollygag around in the Gulf of Maine (see attached chart) which could pinwheel around its center areas of showers that could spritz our region at times into the late week period, especially east of the I-91 corridor, so again, stay tuned for updates.
Temps look fairly seasonable with highs upper 50s to low 60s Tuesday, upper 40s to mid 50s Wednesday and Thursday, and in the mid to upper 50s on Friday.
We’re still looking below average temperature-wise into the first week of May, as well, and could be entering a more active pattern, with no winter weather expected, except for maybe the high peaks of SVT during the middle of next week.
Have a great day!
