TODAY’S DATE: Tuesday, April 19, 2022
Good morning everybody, the wind didn’t come up too much in the valley floor, but max gusts of up to 45mph were reported in a number of towns overnight, and gusts are still kicking to 40mph in the Keene/Monadnock region of southwest NH early this morning. I’ve seen reports of 5″ of snow in Readsboro, VT, and would love to hear any accumulation reports or snow pics, if you live in the high terrain. We’ve got an instability day on the way with clouds, a few showers of various precip types, and plenty of wind as the storm runs up the west side of the CT River Valley this morning, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with a new location in West Springfield, MA.

OUR UPCOMING WEATHER
–Our overnight storm is tracking quickly north into WMass, punching its dry slot into the region as it does, and cutting off precipitation
–There will be some occasional light showers or drizzle this early morning, and some sleet pellets may still be falling in some high terrain areas
–Please let me know how much snow you saw by reporting below and/or posting pics if you live at elevation and have a white coating or blanket on the ground
–As our storm tracks north and away today, winds will veer from the east and southeast out of the southwest and west
–With high pressure building southwest of us, a pressure gradient will form and help generate gusts of 30-45mph today
–Highs will only reach the low 40s to low 50s today, and we’ll see mostly cloudy skies with scattered instability showers in the form of rain, and possibly graupel
–Snow showers will also be possible, mainly later in the day/early evening in the Berkshires/SVT
–For tonight, mostly cloudy skies will continue with lows in the low to mid 30s as any showers end with time
–Winds will still gust 15-30mph overnight
–For Wednesday, we enter a period of meteorological quiescence with high pressure more firmly establishing itself, and producing mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s
–We will still have breezy conditions, gusting to 30mph, but that should slacken by evening, and with clear skies and dry air, we could see one more night of freezing temperatures with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s due to radiational cooling
–Thursday is milder with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s under mostly cloudy skies and a spot shower possible late with a moisture-starved frontal passage #NoBigWhoop
–Thursday night lows will drop into the low 40s
–Friday through Sunday look generally fair with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 50s to low to mid 60s from north to south
–Hopefully this will be a nice long dry stretch ahead, but first we gotta get through an instability day today
–However, the worst of the storm is through the region, and any snow that did accumulate will not be long for this world
Have a great day!
