IT'S A DEGREE OR TWO MILDER THAN EXPECTED AT THIS HOUR... FREEZING RAIN REPORTED IN PARTS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY AND WORCESTER COUNTY WITH SLEET MIXED INTO HAMPSHIRE COUNTY...

Good evening everybody, colder air continues to slowly seep into SWNH, VT, Franklin County and northern parts of CMass with milder temps in to the mid 30s in southern parts of WMass down into northern CT at 9pm.

The most wintry impacts have always been for northeast Berkshire county east through Franklin County and into northern CMass up into SVT and SWNH where anywhere from 1-5″ of snow/sleet combined accumulation is possible.

Based on observations, this event may be marginally a degree or two milder for the “bust-cold” ideas I mentioned earlier to come to pass, so hopefully the worst icing/wintry scenarios (over a third of an inch of ice accretion in spots, an inch or two of sleet in Hampshire County, snow pulling south of the Rt. 2 corridor, etc.) won’t come to pass.

The bottom line is that I would still plan to give myself plenty of time for tomorrow morning’s commute, as a wintry mix is developing in areas mostly north of the Pike tonight with some icing at elevation in northwest and northeast CT.

Have a great night, and please let us know what you’re seeing as of 9:30pm-ish… Dave.
