WINTER STORM WARNINGS ARE UP FOR LITCHFIELD COUNTY CT... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE UP FOR THE BERKSHIRES, WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTY, AND HARTFORD COUNTY FRI. NIGHT TO EARLY SAT...
Good afternoon folks, and again, Merry Christmas to those celebrating today. We’ve got colder air on the way for this evening and tonight with blustery conditions, so bundle up the parts that need bundling and watch for black ice in driveways and walkways if you’re flittering hither and thither on Christmas Night. I just wanted to briefly post about our expected snowfall tomorrow night into early Saturday morning.
I still think there will be a sharp cutoff to the north and east with this system as it dives southeast out fo NY and into the Mid-Atlantic region, staying southwest of us.
Still, Litchfield County and western CT in its entirety is on the eastern edge of the steadiest snowfall with this system, so I am going to raise my totals there from 1-4″ to 3-6″ even though some are even higher. I’m not ready to jump around with the models at this moment. I think southern Berkshire County will be in this 3-6″ range, too.
The 1-4″ range will be relegated more to SVT, the northern Berkshires, western hilltowns, Pioneer Valley in MA down into Hartford County and Tolland County with more like nothing to up to 2″ in southwest NH, easternmost Franklin County, CMass and far northeast CT (Windham County).
I will update again in the morning, but that’s my thinking as of now. Have a great rest of the holiday!
