WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE UP FOR SOUTHERN VT FOR TONIGHT INTO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING FOR FREEZING RAIN...
Good afternoon southern Vermonters (and folks in far northwest MA) west of the CT River Valley for elevations of 1500 feet and above… for you, Winter Weather Advisories are up due to expected freezing rain tonight into 7am Friday morning.
Up to a tenth inch of ice accretion is possible, so please be careful if you’re traveling in the hills and mountains tonight in those areas or early Friday morning as showers of freezing rain and freezing drizzle will cause some slick spots.
I can’t rule out other isolated slick areas in southwest NH and northern CMass (the highlands of Franklin County into northern Worcester County) due to icing overnight, as well.
Precipitation doesn’t look heavy, but the fact remains that light precip or drizzle/mist is a more efficient ice-accretion producer than heavier rain, so just be aware of your surfaces if you live in the hills tonight and your thermometer is near at or just below freezing.
Have a great rest of your day and night, Dave.
