MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW DEVELOPING IN WMASS, FAR NORTHWEST CT, AND SOUTHERN VT THIS VERY LATE MORNING TO MID/LATE AFTERNOON...

Good morning everybody, I wanted to poke my digital head in here to let you know that we’ve got a second round of steadier snowfall pushing out of eastern PA and southeastern NY into the WMass region including northwest CT and southern VT.

This area of heavier snow is producing low visibility observations in southeast NY and eastern PA of a quarter to half a mile, which indicates moderate to heavy snowfall occurring, and that area of snowfall is lifting northeast toward the greater WMass region as of 11am.

We had a lull in some areas, but that is filling back in now with steady light to, at times, moderate snowfall as we head toward the noon hour.

Snowfall rates may reach 1″ per hour for an hour or two as this transient, final wave passes northeast into and out of the region before 6pm tonight when everything should wind down.

Colder air appears to be winning out in the lower to mid levels, so while some rain may mix in to the Hartford / BDL stretch over through northeast CT and far southern parts of Worcester County, I would not be surprised if we remain all snow through the afternoon even in many of those areas.

Another 1-4″ of snow is expected today across the region, but perhaps only some new coatings where rain does mix in, or into far northeast CT or southeast CMass that’s further displaced from the best lifting air and therefore steadier snowfall.

Have a great afternoon, and I will try to post again by mid-afternoon, Dave.
