[6:45PM TUES UPDATE] RAIN MOVES IN AFTER MIDNIGHT... WET WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE, FOLLOWED BY BREEZY AND COLDER CONDITIONS LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT...
Good evening everybody, our final late-season summery feel has come and is now leaving us as a breezy southerly flow ahead of our incoming front which is serving as the harbinger of a pattern change to more Fall-like weather.
The front won’t clear the region until tomorrow afternoon, so tonight (for early October standards) will be fairly mild with lows hanging well into the 50s with a humid air mass in place.
While a few showers are expected first in southwest VT (notably Bennington County) much of the first showers will hold off until either side of midnight, and first push into Litchfield County CT, the Berkshires, and SVT, then track east-northeast with time through the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday morning.
By the dawn, we’re going to see rain really filling in through the region, and become steadier with varying intensity.
Some thunder is possible, and some areas may see pockets of heavy rain that could cause a bit of street flooding here and there where leaf litter has been piling up and blocking drains.
Rainfall will keep pushing east, and should exit sometime between 11am and 2pm from west to east in the greater WMass region.
Highs should only make it into the 60s tomorrow and southerly gusts of 15-25mph should flip to the northwest and gust similarly tomorrow later afternoon and evening.
A cold night lies ahead leading into Thursday morning with lows in the 30s to near 40º, followed by a widespread frost for early Friday morning as high pressure crests overhead, drops the wind, and dries the air with clear skies overhead.
As a result, many folks will drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s, after highs only in the upper 40s and 50s for Thursday!
In other words, Autumn is arriving, my friends!
Have a great evening… Dave.
